Opportunity for seniors:
Our next Lunch and Learn visitor is coming on Thursday, October 22 at 12:15pm. Amber Lester Kennedy is a 2006 graduate of Christopher Newport University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English with a Journalism Concentration with a minor in Art History. She spent seven years as a journalist, working as a reporter and copy editor in newsrooms in Harrisonburg, Staunton and Williamsburg. In 2013, she joined the Peninsula Fine Arts Center as the Director of Marketing and Community Engagement. At the end of this month, she will begin a new position as a public relations counselor at The Meridian Group, an advertising agency in Virginia Beach handling accounts for the Chrysler Museum of Art, Stihl, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Community Engagement
First year students, remember that you should aim to complete about 15 hours this semester, so that you're on track and not overwhelmed next semester. Stop by the PLP Office or send Steph an email (stephanie.abdalla@cnu.edu) if you are struggling or just want to chat about community engagement!
As always, check out our Engagement Opportunities document, or fill out a Service Submission Form if you know of an event you'd like advertised!
Campus Involvement
Have you ever wondered which current Fellow you are most like? Well, there's a quiz for that. Take our Buzzfeed Quiz and let us know via the @CNUFellows twitter who you are!
Don't forget that applications for the Fellowship are due Friday, October 16th, so get those references and cover letters in order! We highly recommend using the current Fellows as resources - ask us about our jobs so that you have a better understanding of what each position entails. Check out the photo above to see our adorable faces during our first month of work. Oh, how we've grown...
