Polkadot Class Happenings
The Week of March 25 - 29
Reading
In reading this week we are practicing telling the main idea of a paragraph or text and identifying details that support the main idea. We will also be working on taking notes on our thinking as we are reading. You can support your child at home by having him/her jot down any thinking, new learnings, connections, visualizations, predictions, etc... during reading and write down what the main idea is.
Writing
In writing this week, we are working on revising and editing skills. Students will be reading a passage and answering questions on how to best edit/revise the piece. You can support your child at home by having them revise and edit consistently on any writing pieces they may do at home.
Math
Last week we learned about 3-D shapes. Your child has been working hard to identify 3-D shapes and counting the faces, vertices, and edges. We will be doing a review on Tuesday and your child will be taking the Geometry Test on Wednesday. Your child will bring home a review sheet on Tuesday to study at home. Please go over the review sheet with your child to help them study for the test. You may also support your child at home by working with them on identifying 2-D and 3-D shapes in real life and practice counting the number of faces, vertices, and edges.
Science
This week we will take the Earth, Space, and Sky Assessment. We will do a review on Monday and students will take the test on Tuesday. Your child will be bringing home a review sheet on Monday. Please go over the sheet with your child to help them review for the test.
Other
Attendance - Just a reminder to please make sure your child is coming to school every day and on time so that they do not miss crucial instruction and practice.
STAAR Testing - STAAR testing is taking place this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2-3. Our campus will be closed to outside visitors.
Homework - Just a reminder that I will be emailing homework each week instead of printing it out. Please let me know if you would prefer to receive a hard copy. I will make copies only for those who inquire for one. Thanks!
Have a great week!
