Zombie Apocalypse

Possible or Not?

Can a Zombie Apocalypse Really Happen?

Real or Not?

What if one day, half of the world's population woke up craving brains? Some may think this is just a myth, but there is some truth behind a "Zombie Apocalypse". There are a few probable conditions that may allow this kind of apocalypse happen. A brain eating parasite, or a virus or also know as 'the cure' spread throughout the world maybe even by government. These seem like they are unrealistic ideas about zombies, but when you really think about them it becomes more real with every thought. I personally believe that a zombie apocalypse could most definitely happen, maybe not in our time, but in the near future.

Toxoplasmosa Gondii

This brain controlling parasite could spread like wild fire and take over more than half of the world's population. As stated in TE Sloth's, and David Wong's article, "All it takes is a more evolved version of toxoplasmosa, one that could do us what it does to the rats." This means that if the parasite develops, and can reach our brains, it will eat away at the human's and take over their bodies and make us the 'walking dead'. "Half the human population on Earth is infected with toxoplasmosa." All that is necessary for an apocalypse to happen is for the evolution of this parasite to grow and be capable to control the human's brain as it did for the rat. These parasites will alter with the brain and control the persons actions. "The rat is being programmed to get itself eaten, and it doesn't even know." It is a very powerful bug that can change a whole planet if it evolves to controlling the humans brain. If this takes over the human race, it will make us walking, moaning, brain seeking "zombies". Overpopulation!

There are 7 billion people on the Earth and the population wont stop growing. Roughly 150,000 people are born everyday, and that including the deaths as well. The world as we know it will one day become over populated if you don't consider it being now. Around the year 2050, 9.5 billion people are going to be alive on this planet, and Earth isn't getting any bigger. By the year 2100, 10.8 billion people will be living on Earth. World Population Clock: 7 Billion People (2014) - Worldometers." World Population Clock: 7 Billion People (2014) - Worldometers. N.p., n.d. Web. 12 Feb. 2014. To understand this issue, we have to realize that since 1999, there has been an increase of 1 billion people, and that's in 15 years. The Earth is unfit to acquire that many people and someone or something is going to change that. Whoever it is or whatever it is, it's going to have to start killing off people and an overpopulation is a great excuse to do it. I really do believe that it will be the government putting something in our water, or our food and just hiding it from us, but I strongly believe that some type of outbreak will happen. From another source it states, "Mad Cow Disease came along. It attacks the cow’s spinal cord and brain, turning it into a stumbling, mindless attack cow." Well don't humans eat cow? Won't that make us sick, and 'stumbling, mindless attack humans'? Lee, Grant. "Menu." NJC Science Technology. N.p., 22 June 2013. Web. 13 Feb. 2014. We can't control what goes into our water or our food, we just trust that it isn't going to turn us into brain seeking zombies, but what happens when they're 11 billion people on the Earth, how will we live?

Outbreak Impossible or Not..

So having an outbreak that makes the dead come alive, and want to eat the brains of the living is a bit unrealistic. There are disease control centers, that try to terminate the virus and keep everyone in quarantine so it wont spread. Also the government has laws in place that something of this nature were to ever happen, we would be put in lock down and nothing would be able to be contaminated. "Top Ten Reasons a Zombie Apocalypse Would Fail." The Nexus Forums. N.p., 31 May 2012. Web. 13 Feb. 2014. Well even if walls were built and military was on guard controlling the 'walkers', what if the virus was airborne, or already in us? How could you quarantine something that has already spread?

When Will They Come

A "Zombie Apocalypse" isn't so far fetched when you look at all the possibilities and factors. The world is immensely populated, and something is going to have to control that, and what happens when parasites evolve, and starting eating and controlling our brain? The zombies will come, its just a matter of when and how.
