Friday Mail
What's Happening Week of September 3, 2018
And we are off!
This is our new Friday Mail format. Hopefully it will be easier to read and find what you're looking for. There will always be a link available on the website under Student Life/Friday Mail.
We're open to feedback as we try this new process. The feedback from our summer updates in this format were very positive and we're hoping to keep that momentum going.
If you haven't been able to tell, we are very EXCITED for another year at St. Anna's. We are planning for the Best School Year YET! Our students have spent the last four years working on team building activities and how to work with each other. We are focusing on Kindness again this year with our theme “Everyone Counts”, specifically peer to peer relationships.
You will also see a difference in how we recognize students this year. We want ALL students to have the opportunity to be recognized for their greatness. We will no longer be recognizing specific students each month but recognizing students daily for their positive contributions as recognized by school staff. This is called the Good News Call of the Day. Staff choose students who should get a Good News Call of the Day and that student comes to the office, we make the positive phone call home and it’s not complete without a selfie and a Good News Call of the Day bracelet. It is important that all of our students are recognized on a regular basis for hard work, determination, team work, kindness, not giving up etc. This will allow us to recognize our students for these traits and they can be recognized by any school staff and not just chosen by their classroom/homeroom teacher. Let’s spread the Good News!!

Cool Kids Cash Club
This program will allow students to being banking at school. They will learn the importance of saving and will be able to make deposits into their savings account twice a month. This is an easy and terrific way to start saving NOW for middle school field trips! Each year the 6th graders attend Nature’s Classroom at a cost of around $600. The Washington DC trip is held every other year so your child would have the opportunity to attend DC as either a 7th or 8th grader. This trip costs around $1000. If you being saving NOW, as early as preschool or Kindergarten, your child could easily save enough money to cover both of these trips by the time they become a middle school student!
Students will also learn skills about keeping a savings account pass book and other financial skills that are necessary to become financially responsible adults.
Parents who are interested in having their child participate in this program, will need to open their child’s account at Fidelity and then on-going deposits can be made conveniently at school.
Please feel free to stop in at either Fidelity branch in Leominster to open your account. Please let them know it is for St. Anna’s Cool Cash Club and/or email and let me know you’ve opened an account for your child so I can let you know when banking at school will begin.
If you have questions about the program, please contact Ruby Vargas from Fidelity Bank at rvargas@fidelitybankonline.com or 978-353-2701

The teacher will help them if needed. Students will have access to their chromebooks. Students can get picked up at 4:30 or go to extended care. Our intention is to give students a quiet space to do their homework after school. This will be beneficial to those that usually go to extended care and want to finish their homework before playing and for those that might need a little more support and structure to complete their homework. Students need to let their teacher know during attendance if they are staying after for homework club or let Mrs. Priddy know at lunch time. We need to make sure everyone has a ride home. Students who are signed up to go to Homework Club need to STAY at homework club until their ride arrives unless they are also signed up to go to Extended Care following Homework Club.
