Teacher Appreciation Week

You deserve to be appreciated all year long, but next week is the week that we honor you and all that you do for our students. PTO has put together a week of treats for you (Dr. Seuss style) to show you some love. Here are the themes:

  • “Hats off to my teacher” – decorate the a Dr. Seuss hat and write a short note to your teacher
  • Tuesday - “Hop on Popcorn” – popcorn bar for the teachers in the conference room *provided by PTO
  • Wednesday – “Pink Yink Ink Drink” – bring your teacher his or her favorite drink!
  • Thursday – “Fiffer-Feffer Flower” – bring your teacher a flower!
  • Friday – “Biffer Baum Boxed Lunch” – Subway lunch for the teachers *provided by PTO*

In addition to the above treats, Eric and I will have special treats for you throughout the week. On Monday morning, we want you to start the day with a full tummy, so stop by the Conference Room for pancakes and toppings!

Thank you so much for being here and giving your 110% to every student that walks through our door each day. Please know how much we appreciate you!! Enjoy your week.

Victory Walk and Encouragement Letters

Friday at 2:00, we will have our annual Victory Walk for all 3rd and 4th grade students and teachers. They will take the STAAR tests on May 9th and 10th. Please be out in the hallways with your signs at 1:55. Don't forget to send your buddy class encouraging letters by Friday morning. The students really enjoy reading the letters from the younger grades. Thank you for making our students and teachers feel like VIPs before taking the STAAR!

EOY Screener Windows

Since May is officially here, things are going to be a little busy. So, take a deep breath and know that everything will ok and get accomplished:-) With that being said, here is the timeline for EOY screeners:

  • May 2 - 27: EOY DRAs on all students (K-4)
  • May 9 - 13: Math APAs (K-2)
  • May 16 - 17: Math Screeners (K-3)

Remember that we use this information to help divide and balance classes for the following year. Tasha, Joanne and Rachel will see Title 1 students until May 13th. Joanne and Rachel will complete DRAs on all of the students they see in Title 1. Tasha will also input all of your APA and Math Screener data.

The light is at the end of the tunnel!

Summative Conferences are complete

Summative conferences are complete. Eric and I have enjoyed spending one-on-one time with you yesterday and today, and reviewing your goals and celebrating all of the good things you have accomplished this year. Even though summatives are over, walkthroughs are still going to take place for the remainder of the year. Don't forget to go in and electronically sign your summative appraisal.

We are so fortunate and blessed to work with such an amazing staff!!

Summer School Invites

Eric gave you summer school invite letters for the students we discussed in Tier 2 meetings at the beginning of April. We will not fill out the summer school rubric this year. Please reach out to your parents, and encourage them to return the forms as quickly as possible. I will send summer school intervention plans with next week's newsletter.

Spring Time Reminders

Still going to keep this in here until the end...

Spring has sprung, and we are in the home stretch, so let's end strong!

Warmer weather means students are dressing in shorts, skirts and tank tops. Please make sure that you are enforcing the dress code with your students. Shorts/skirts must be fingertip length, and tank tops are permitted. Halter tops, spaghetti straps and strapless tops are not permitted. If a student is out of dress code, please have them go to the nurse to change. I have put dress code reminders in the parent newsletter as well.

Please be you are actively monitoring on the playground. Teachers should be positioned at separate points around the playground for optimal supervision.

Learning is still occurring until 11:30 on June 2nd, so make sure that you are sticking to your regular schedule throughout the day. May is pretty packed with activities!
