Message Meant to Deceive
This clip shows a message that is meant to deceive. Nacho obviously doesn't truly enjoy every single thing that the sister is saying. He is trying to impress her and therefore being very deceptive while doing so.
NL NittyGritty
Disconfirming
In this series of clips Michael Scott uses disconfirming behavior throughout his interactions with Toby. Michael Scott's disconfirming behavior is used in an attempt to devalue, humiliate, and alienate Toby and his position as an HR representative within the company.
The Office- Top 20 Michael vs. Toby Moments!!!
Inference
This video shows an inference because the hero automatically inferred that the robbers were going to jail, even though it wasn't on the script. He clearly explains why he thought this and what lead him to believe they would be going to jail.
Introduction to Reading Skills: Making Inferences
Emotional Ineptitude
In this comic strip, Calvin is demonstrating emotional ineptitude by his lack of self-awareness, one of the important aspects needed for emotional intelligence. He says that when people constantly complain, it drives him "nuts," not realizing that he himself is complaining and annoying his friend Hobbes. He is not self-aware and is showing a lack of social skills by going on and on, ignoring the person he is talking to. This kind of outburst and lack of self-awareness can cause many problems in all types of interpersonal relationships.
Emotionally Tone Deaf
The Office: Michael pushes Toby's tray
In this video, Michael and Toby are having lunch together. Toby attempts to talk to Michael about some difficulties he has had in the past in an attempt to relate to him. However, Michael is unable to empathize with Toby and completely shuts down his feelings. His lack of sensitivity towards Toby is an example of being emotionally tone deaf.
Using Emotions Strategically
Vic's Kid & Mom Tantrum Commercial
I liked this video to showcase using emotions strategically because usually the child throws tantrums to get what they want. However, in this funny commercial the mom used a tantrum to avoid having to give into her child.

Over-disclosing on Social Media
This was a status update that I read on my homepage that went out to all 371 of her friends, some of whom, including myself, do not know her very well. I think this definitely qualifies as disclosing too much personal information, making others feel uncomfortable.
Backhanded Compliment
I love your skirt!- Regina George
In this clip, Regina George gives a backhanded compliment. She purposely tells an innocent girl that she loves her skirt but isn't sincere and proceeds to tell Cady that it is ugly.
