Instruction & Technology Updates
In advance of the meeting, it would be helpful for you to:
1. Review this timeline
2. Review the two forms for the observation (PreConference and PostConference)
3. Start thinking about a class and week in which you would like to be observed (following the timeline above).
4. Review your approved goals (you should receive a copy from Ms. Marte this week)
Over the next few months, we will provide a number of resources for you to consider and review to help you come to a deeper understanding of the Danielson Framework. This week, we begin with Domain 3A:
Danielson 3A: Communicating with Students
Often when students recall some of their favorite teachers, they give examples of how a teacher was brilliant in explaining content and how the expectations for learning and tasks were always very clear. In the materials included in this section (click the link above), you will explore central elements of teacher-student communication; expectations for learning, directions and procedures, explanation of content and use of oral and written language. View video examples of real classroom teachers and gain insight from teacher evaluation expert, Charlotte Danielson.
If you have any questions, please see your administrative mentor or Mr. P! This will be a transformative experience!
Curriculum and Academics!
Academics
We want to thank you for all the good work that we see happening. In a recent meeting with teachers, Dr. Vallone noted energy, passion, and a desire to implement a variety of strategies to help our students learn. That was awesome! Another teacher contacted parents regarding student performance. We often see teachers going the extra mile, and that will help us all to see growth in our student!
As we progress into fall, you are, no doubt, seeing various levels of success with your students. Please take inventory (a.k.a. do an assessment) of your students, and, based on your findings, do two things:
1) For students who are struggling--do more assessment to determine the root of the problem. Go the extra mile, research strategies for them, reach out to Sam or Bri, or someone in your department for ideas, be thoughtful about what students are doing in the think tank, and lastly, talk to your students to see what is and isn't making sense to them.
2) For students who are doing well--determine ways to challenge them. Stretch their minds even further.
Please let us know if you need support. Have a great weekend.
