Patriot's Pen Essay Winners

Callie McGuire, 8th grade, and Alyssa Pollock, 9th grade, won this year's Patriot's Pen Essay Contest. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.

The 2020-2021 theme is, "What is Patriotism to Me?".

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up

We have a few reminders as you navigate the options for parking and student drop off/pick up.

  1. NORTH PARKING LOT: SCHOOL BUSES ONLY. Please do not drive into the north lot from 600 E or 820 E unless you are parking and entering the building. This is not a parent drop off area.
  2. EAST DRIVE THROUGH LANES: PARENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP. Use only the right lane to park and wait. Please do not park and wait in the left lane, it is the pull through lane only.
  3. SOUTHEAST PARKING LOT AND LANES: Parents may park in the Southeast Lot AND they may use the drive through lanes the same as the East Lanes.

We want to practice safety as we release students, so please avoid waiting in the pull through lane as we don't want students to walk through parked and pull through cars to get to a ride.

Additionally, we want the pull through lane to remain clear for moving vehicles.

We have crossing guards at both the drop off/pick up lane and 820 E. Thank you for your courtesy and patience as we help students cross both areas.

Monday Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem

On Veteran's Day we asked students to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem prior to our "virtual assembly" in classrooms. The students did a wonderful job as you may see on a story we recently posted to our website.

In an effort to model patriotism, good citizenship, gratitude, unity, and other qualities, starting Monday, November 16, we begin each week with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by The National Anthem over the intercom. This will happen every Monday we are in school for the remainder of the school year. The rest of the week teachers will continue to recite the Pledge daily from their classrooms each morning.

This week Hanson Johns (8th) led the Pledge while Remi Combs (9th) and Sarah Bennett (8th) (pictured) sang our Anthem. We are proud of these students for their willingness to share and help us. We will choose different students each week to lead these patriotic gestures for our entire student body.

Chromebook Insurance

We are still offering Chromebook insurance for $30 if you need it. If a Chromebook is damaged and needs to be replaced, the replacement cost is $250 without insurance. Please pay for insurance at the finance office.

C's B's and A's before the Holidays

Students, now is the time to get and keep your grades up. We will only have 9 school days left in the term after Christmas Break. To encourage students, we will have a drawing every Friday between now and Christmas. If your name is drawn AND you have C's, B's and A's in all classes you win CASH MONEY. It PAYS to keep your grades up and you might win some Christmas Cash.
