3rd Grade Rocks!

March 16th-20th

SAT Review

This week we will be working on SAT review for several subjects. We will review previously learned topics and concepts in SAT format. This will help students be more comfortable with the SAT test next week.

We will work on reviewing reading vocabulary (including synonyms, antonyms, and multiple meaning words), and comprehension skills.

NO reading story - NO TEST!

Unit 7, Part 1 Word WIsdom

We will review parts of speech, grammar, and conventions (including rules for capitalization, punctuation) and the writing process.

We will review problem solving, graphing, addition & subtraction, multiplication & division, time, money, geometry, and fractions.

Multiplication time test Friday!

We will continue with our lessons. We'll focus on light energy this week.

Social Studies

Students will work on a "culture pizza" which is an art project showing family culture and traditions. Please see the homework sheet in Monday's VIP for more details and information. Students will need your help brainstorming ideas, but they will complete the project in class.

*Friday is a 1/2 day of school. Students are dismissed at 12:15.

*SAT tests are next week! Testing procedures start PROMPTLY at 8:00am. Please be sure to have the kids at school on time! This is not a week they need to feel rushed. If students arrive to school after 8:00am, they will NOT be allowed in the classroom and will have to make up their test at a later time.

*During testing, snack time will be later than students are normally used to. Please be sure students eat a good breakfast on testing days!

*3rd graders take an additional standardized test - the OLSAT (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test). We will take the practice test on Monday, March 30th and the actual test on Tuesday, March 31st. These tests will be first thing in the morning on those days. Please be sure your child is at school on time those days.
