Message From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Our Titans continue to make us proud in every way. This week the CCRPI results were officially released by GADOE, the Georgia Department of Education. Elkins Pointe increased our score by 11.8 points from last year! This kind of growth only happens when students, teachers, and parents work together!
At Elkins Pointe, the growth of the whole child is important to us. If our children are not drug-free and making good choices, student success becomes impossible. Because we want all things possible for our students, we spent this week getting out the message of Red Ribbon Week. Mr. Jerome Huff came to give a "Real Talk" to our parents and our students. He came attired in the dress of the day, Camo. Mr. Huff was not hiding from the truth about drugs and he hit the topic hard. Please keep talking to your children about the hazards of vaping/juuling, drugs, and alcohol. Our students can do anything, and it is our collective job to make sure that drugs do not derail their pathway to career and college!
Thank you to Mrs. Mimado Souchu for coming to Elkins Pointe to give a live interview and performance during WINN time today. Mrs. Souchu shared her career path of being a professional singer in France and in the United States. Due to the expertise of the Titan News Crew, Owen Smith, Neil Thomas, Sebastian Hurtado, and Sophie Brady, all students got to see the special broadcast in their classrooms. The crew played the video of Mrs. Souchu's 2014 audition to the French TV version of "The Voice." Mrs. Souchu then wowed the building by singing a famous French song acapella. Merci beaucoup to Monsieur Mendy for arranging for authentic French National Week activities. Next week, Mr. Karim Souchu, French-Basketball player, will be sharing his talents with French and PE students.
Tomorrow, we will be starting up our Titan Advantage, student academic workshops on Saturday, November 3rd and then again on Saturday, November 10th. If your child received an invitation during WINN class, we urge you to take advantage of this program to boost your child's growth. We will be hosting Titan Advantage again in March. All Titans are invited to come to the Saturday workshops.
Next week we will be celebrating the students' amazing role in the 11.8 increase in CCRPI with an ice-cream party. We would love for parents to come to help pass out the ice-cream to students during lunches. Please come and be part of the celebration!
Sincerely,
Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S
