ISASP Week March 28 - April 1 Friendly Reminders

You will play an essential role in helping prepare your students for testing. Discuss the importance of these assessments with your student and assist him/her in approaching the tests with a positive attitude.

Please ensure your child:

  • Plans ahead to avoid conflicts in the testing schedule. Attendance is an extremely important factor in determining success.

  • Takes their time. TESTS ARE NOT TIMED.

  • Maintains a consistent bedtime.

  • Eats breakfast and stays hydrated.

  • Ear buds - some tests may be read aloud, so earbuds will be needed if they'd like to take advantage of this opportunity.

Dress Code Reminder

As Spring eases in, please remember to honor our dress code. If you or your student has questions, please let our counselor, Mrs. Van Wyk, our dean, Mr. Tjeerdsma, or me know, and we would be happy to clarify for you. The full policy is below.

If a student has excessive skin exposed in the midriff, back, shoulder, chest, legs, backside, etc., we will ask your student to cover up or change clothes.

Pella Middle School Competes in Math

Students competed well at the Math Counts competition under Ms. Ernst and Mrs. Brandt's guidance and leadership. This was their first time taking a math counts group, and we are really proud of how this group represented Pella Middle School.

Math Counts only ranks the top 40% of teams, and we were 6th place out of 29 teams. We also had nine out of our 12 students place in the top 50% of individuals and three students in the top 25%.

Student Council Synergizes to provide a Winter Informal

Pella Middle School Student Council synergized to create a winter informal opportunity to help others sharpen their saw on Friday, February 25. They played dodge ball, basketball, watched movies, danced, and played games. What a great opportunity and a huge success!

If so, Pella Middle School and Jefferson keep green and white on hand for new students, and we welcome any Pella gear and apparel you'd like to get rid of. It can be dropped off in our main offices. The Counselor Connection - ISASP Prep

Spring is just around the corner and exciting things are happening here at the middle school! Students will be ISASP testing the week of March 28th. You can help your child by ensuring they have a healthy breakfast, stay hydrated, and get plenty of sleep. All make-up testing will take place immediately upon a student’s return to school. These tests are important as they help us best support your student’s academic needs.

Seventh grade students will also be signing up for their next year's classes during this week, on Monday, March 28th during the first part of the school day. If you or your child has questions about their classes, please contact me at jourdan.vanwyk@pellaschools.org
