8th Annual District Food Drive 10/04/21-10/13/2021
We are excited to once again participate in the district-wide Food Drive. This Oswego tradition is a staple in the community. All district schools participate in a unified effort to "Fill It Up" for the Kendall County Community Food Pantry. A little friendly competition between schools is so much fun and is highlighted by a traveling trophy and bragging rights for an entire year! Let's plan on our Tiger family bringing home the "gold!" Winners will be announced during halftime of the Crosstown Challenge game on October 15 at Oswego High School.
Every dollar can make a HUGE difference. While any donation is greatly appreciated, the Kendall County Community Food Drive has specific needs that we can help them with during the Food Drive. Junior High families are encouraged to donate the following Canned Meat/Entree items if at all possible:
- soup
- tuna
- chicken
- Spaghetti O's
- Raviolis
All in-person donations can be brought to the Main Office or given to your SST (first hour teacher).
Donations by check: Please make your check payable to the "Kendall County Community Food Pantry"
Online donations are also accepted. For every $1 you donate, this will count as 8 donated goods for our school. Donation Link
Let's show our community how big the hearts are in our Tiger Family!
Please contact Mrs. Hart if you have any questions

Awesome Things Are Happening in Mrs. Davini's ELA Classes...
Students survived their first REMOTE day, and did an awesome job going with the flow and participating from home. While in school, students are enjoying daily silent reading time with many of them having already finished their first novel! Currently, they are working on developing their annotating skills while reading an excerpt from “The Odyssey.” Some classes had so much fun with the story they even volunteered to act out the big scene in class.
Students Pictured: Keith Johnson (played the Cyclops), Morgan Bliss (played Odysseus), Sutton Stadtherr, Brett Dillon, Keegan Goodyear, Lucas Arroyo, Kayden Rudny, Emilio Manriquez (played the crew), and Mrs. Davini (the narrator)

From the Front Office
Masks - We ask that you please send a fresh, clean mask to school with your child daily. We are seeing an increased amount of students coming directly to the office in the morning to grab a mask for the day. While we do love helping our Tigers, our supply of masks must be reserved for emergency situations. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Outside/Vendor Food - Outside vendor foods are not permitted in the lunchrooms this year. We cannot accept a delivery from a vendor (store or delivery such as Grub Hub) on behalf of a student. If a parent delivers outside food, the student will be able to receive their lunch, however, will need to eat in the Main Office and then return to lunch. Thank you.
Anger - A Message from the Counselor's Office
Anger
Of all the emotions, anger is one of the hardest (if not the hardest) to navigate. We consistently see questions pour in from parents and professionals:
How do we not get so triggered by our kids or teens?
How do we help our kids when they get angry over and over again?
How do we use coping skills in the moment of anger?
How do we just make it go away?
If you have a question, we have a conversation you're not going to want to miss! We're thrilled to share with you the launch of a new free podcast:
Dear Anger, a podcast for parents (and really any human who gets angry) Listen on iTunes, Spotify, or Google Podcasts.

Food Pantry
The district runs a satellite location of the Kendall County Community Food Pantry the first Friday of every month from 6-7:30. We provide supplemental food for families in the SD308 boundaries, as well as those who live in Kendall County. Please encourage families that you work with to attend if they have a need.
Food is available for staff as well. If you are in need of supplemental food once a month, you are welcome to visit the pantry. If privacy/confidentiality is a concern, please reach out to Heidi Podjasek at hpodjasek@sd308.org of x3667 and we will discuss a plan to maintain your privacy from other staff and families.
Volunteers are always needed and welcome! Please click here to apply as a NEW volunteer. If you've volunteered with use before, and would like to do so again, click here.
For more information, please visit our website at www.sd308.og/foodpantry or contact Heidi Podjasek, Director of Social Emotional Learning at x3667. Thank you!!
Conflict Resolution
Are you having problems with another student
that you would like resolved?
Or do you know of a friend who has ongoing problems with a specific student?
Almost all students who have a confrontation say that there has been a history between the two that has been going on for a while. Instead of letting those feelings continue to build up, consider trusting Mr. Buono to assist in resolving the ¨beef.¨
Fill out the 5 second form by scanning the QR code. Mr. Buono will then set up a time to talk to you and decide if we can all sit down for a peer mediation session to calm things down.
*If you have any questions/comments/concerns, you can also email Mr. Buono: NBuono@sd308.org
