Lakewood Parent Communication
Message from the Principal
This was another wonderful week! We finished last week with a fantastic Geography Bee in which our contestants were some of the very TOP of the district. Tonight is the 4th grade program. We look forward to seeing you there!
Wednesdays are COLLEGE Day!
2019 HEBISD Holiday Card Contest
All Lakewood students are encouraged to submit artwork for the 2019 HEBISD Holiday Card Contest.
The winner’s artwork will be on HEBISD’s official holiday card next school year. The winner and a few artists chosen for honorable mention will also be honored at a board meeting and have their artwork on display.
The contest theme this year is: “My Holiday Looks Like…” Draw, color, paint or collage an artwork that fits that theme. What does your winter holiday look like?
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ON 8 1/2" BY 11" PAPER (Cardstock works best. See Mrs. Yatko for a blank paper if you do not have one). No Mounting or Framing is required.
Student’s first and last name, grade level, school (Lakewood) and Art Teacher (Mrs. Debbie Yatko) must appear on the back of each entry.
Submit entries to Mrs. Yatko no later than Friday January 25, 2019.
FROM THE ART ROOM
Dear Lakewood Students and Parents,
I have updated my Lakewood Art website http://padlet.com/deborahyatko/lweart containing weekly art schedule, current art projects, parent tips, art contests and more!
This week highlights the HEBISD Holiday Card Contest. If your child needs a project over the weekend or during winter break, creating an artwork for the HEBISD Holiday Card Contest will be productive.
Take a minute to check out my site. I will be updating the website monthly.
Family Engagement Opportunities
The school calendar is located in your child's MOOSE. Please look for school holidays to plan family vacations or trips. Important instruction takes place every day and we don't want your child to miss anything and possibly get behind!
Tardy and Absence Policy
ON TIME EAGLES
Back by popular demand, we will be pulling names of students who are on time every day for awards. Tell your student who is ON TIME to watch the morning announcements for winners.
One of our goals this year is for every staff member and every student to have 97% attendance for the school year. That calculates out to less than 6 absences for the entire year. Please help us reach this goal by making sure that your child is at school every day that they can!
Thank you for your help in making sure your child is at school every day!
