Back to School 2020 Information & Updates
Back to School 2020-2021
On Friday, July 10th, The Board of School Trustees approved revisions to the academic calendar including moving back the start date for students to Wednesday, August 26th. This will hopefully give time for cases to drop, families to become informed and make the best decision for themselves, and give teachers and staff time to properly be prepared given new guidelines from TEA. Below you will find the new academic calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

Be Informed!
Denton ISD believes that face-to-face instruction, led by certified educators, creates the best learning environment for all students. When conditions concerning health and wellness do not allow for that, we plan to continue learning through a virtual format.
Our leadership team understands that many questions remain regarding the return to face-to-face instruction, including additional safety protocols, and that your family’s concerns surrounding COVID-19 protocols are changing.
The district continues to be guided by information shared by the Texas Education Agency and state/local health experts. Please continue to monitor the districts Back to School site for the latest updates as we work to launch in-person instruction this fall.

Which option is best for my student?
Face-to-Face:
In person class at Union Park led by our teachers as it traditionally looks. We will follow the on-campus student and staff safety guidelines determine by our district in conjunction with the health department and TEA.
Connected Learning:
ConnectedLearning is a fully remote option for students in grades PK-12.
Denton ISD’s ConnectedLearning option allows students to remain enrolled at their home campus while taking courses remotely with teachers from the home campus. In doing so, students will maintain their connections to teachers and peers. It will look different than online learning did at the end of last year.
