Principal's Letter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
Seasons Greetings! It's hard to believe that we have less than two weeks of school until the end of the semester and our Winter Holiday Break. Our students and teachers are still focused and working hard to close out semester one in a strong and impactful way.
With the close of the semester, our students have been and will continue to be involved in some assessments so we can see how much progress they have made during the first semester. One of the assessments we use is the iReady assessment. This assessment is great for helping us see how our students are growing. I am looking forward to seeing the results of lots of hard work!
In October, students in second and fourth grades took the MAP assessment. This assessment replaced what used to be the ITBS/Iowa assessment. The MAP assessment is a nationally normed test which allows us to see how our students are performing compared to other students across our country in the subjects of Math and Reading. I am including the results summary below so you can see how fabulously our students at LWE performed. I am very proud of our results, especially coming off a couple of school years disrupted by a global pandemic.
The month of December is a special time for many families who celebrate various religious and cultural holidays. Family time and traditions are important things to carve out time for and I truly hope during this busy season that you are able to take time to soak up these amazing moments with your children. They grow up so fast and memories made during this special season are priceless! Enjoy! Happy Holidays to you all!
Warm regards,
Julie Morris
