Wind Energy
Wind energy
What is Wind Energy all about?
Today, wind energy is mainly used to generate electricity using linked wind turbines on wind farms. Wind can be used as a reliable, clean source of renewable energy. Wind energy has been used by people for thousands of years.
How does Wind Energy work?
Wind is a form of solar energy. Winds are caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth's surface, and rotation of the earth. Wind flow patterns are modified by the earth's terrain, bodies of water, and vegetation. Humans use this wind flow, or motion energy, for many purposes: sailing, flying a kite, and even generating electricity.
How does wind energy affect the enviroment ?
Why do we need wind energy ?
Wind power is a well proven and cost-effective technology and expected to be the main way in which industry responds to the Government's targets - so becoming an important source of electricity in years to come.
