Origin of the Windsor Castle
The Windsor Castle is located in the English country of Berkshire. Notable for its long association with the British royal family and for its architecture. The original castle was built after the Norman invasion by William the Conqueror around the year 1070.The Windsor occupies a large area of 13 acres, and combines the features of fortification, a palace, and a small town. At the heart of Windsor Castle is the Middle Ward, a bailey formed around the motte or artificial hill in the centre of the ward. The motte is 50 ft (15 m) high and is made from chalk originally excavated from the surrounding ditch. It is now owned by the government.
What the Castle is used for today compared to the middle ages??
In today's economy the castle is used as a queen residence or a public tour. Its mainly for the public tour. It really brings tourist and others to come see the big castle and what was in it and its an educational experience. Back in the middle ages the castle was used mainly for the comfort and home or palace for kings and queens. This castle was the dome their home to which hey lived in. It was handed down in royal families and like then and today there still is taxes to be paid.
