- Please remind your children to turn their cell phones OFF before entering the campus.
Check your email every night...
Please check your email daily, including each night and each morning before coming to school, to see if a positive COVID-19 case has been identified in your child’s class and if your child needs to follow the quarantine protocols. Sometimes we are informed of a positive case late at night, and we need to inform multiple families as quickly as possible that their child needs to quarantine. If a positive case is identified in your child’s class, please know that district nursing staff will follow up with you as part of contact tracing.
~Celebrate Your Family's Culture at Grant!~
Did you know that Grant families speak more than 15 languages and come from over 25 different countries? Let's make sure our community celebrates all of the diverse cultures that make us who we are! Sign up to be a cultural ambassador during Grant’s Cultural Heritage Week (October 4-8). There are many easy and fun ways to get involved: share a favorite cultural recipe, pre-packaged snack, book, or song, or make a video or poster presentation about a cultural symbol or tradition. ~WELCOME TO THE NEW GRANT SSC MEMBERS!~
Lucy is a proud Grant parent, active PTA member, and room representative. She graduated from UCLA for both college and law school and is thankful that her elementary, middle, and high school educations led her there. She supports providing every one of our children with the highest-quality in-person educational programs and learning environments so each student is positioned to reach for their dreams. Lucy was a strong advocate of opening schools and hopes to bring an independent view to School Site Council that focuses on the very best education possible for all of our students so they all have successful futures in whatever career they choose.
BRIAN HORNER:
Brian is a NY native and UCLA grad and moved back to LA with his family in 2015 after a 10-year stint in NYC and Calgary. Brian and his wife Fiona are parents to Finn (2nd-Murcia) and Rowen (K-Calek). Besides being an impromptu and ineffective substitute elementary school teacher off and on the last 18 months, Brian is managing partner of Ladder Ventures, a seed-stage venture fund based in Los Angeles and former President of Tech Coast Angels. In addition to investing in startups, Brian is also an adjunct faculty member at UCLA Anderson, instructing MBA courses in both Business Creation and Strategic Management.

~AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING MANDATORY COVID TESTING~
Dear Grant Families,
As you know we have begun mandatory Covid-19 testing on campus during the school session, every Thursday. If your child’s test results are positive, you will receive an email or phone call directly from Malibu Medical. We currently do not have the capacity to provide negative test results to families. No news is good news.
THANK YOU to all of you for working with us in ensuring your child is registered for this testing and for helping to keep Grant a safe and healthy place for all!

ALSO, YOU CAN SHOW ONE GREEN SCREEN FOR YOUR ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD!
We are proud to provide you with Lintelio, our new health screening tool. It is provided to SMMUSD through a company called Company Nurse. It is easy to use and it is now ready to use!
Steps to follow:
- All students and staff can start NOW by registering themselves. Click the links below to register and then scroll through to your location. If you are on a laptop, you need to hold the left mouse down while scrolling down. If you are on a cell phone it works easier because you just scroll to your location.
- The day after you register you will start receiving a screening link via email the very next morning after you registered at 5 am. The link will come from LINTELIO, so, please use the name Lintelio when discussing the new link with student, staff, and parent community. This link is unique to you and your name every day, and unique to that particular date so please only complete your link, for the current day, and don’t share it with anyone else to complete.
- Click on the link you receive every morning at 5 am to complete the screening. You will need to show your green screen prior to entering any district facility. Your green screen will last for 15 hours.
- If you get a red screen STAY HOME and contact your administrator and/or school nurse for further instructions.
- If you receive a red screen, you will not be able to complete further screenings on subsequent days until a school nurse or administrator clears your hold in the system and allows you to screen again.
