2021 Douglas-Sarpy County 4-H Alumni Scholarship
Application Deadline – April 23, 2021
The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Council will be selecting four alumni 4-H members to receive college scholarships. The following scholarships may be awarded to those that meet the qualifications and complete the attached application:
• Four-$500 college scholarships
Requirements for the scholarship are:
• Applicant must be a 4-H Alumni of the Douglas-Sarpy County 4-H program.
• Applicant must have an average GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be at least a Freshman in college (cannot be a current high school senior)
• Proof of registration classes for the Fall of 2021 will be required to redeem scholarship if awarded (Tuition statement, class listing, etc.) Please email proof of enrollment to kimparks11803@gmail.com.
Today is National Spinach Day - Enjoy Making a Clover Power Smoothie with your 4-Her!
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup 100% apple juice
- 1/2 cup fresh baby spinach
- 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks, no sugar added
- 1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 banana
Directions:
- Wash hands with soap and water.
- Gently wash spinach under cold running water. If spinach is marked "pre-washed" or "ready-to-eat", use the spinach without further washing.
- Add apple juice and spinach leaves to blender. Blend first to help make it smooth and avoid leafy chunks
- Place the remaining ingredients in the blender.
- Blend until smooth and serve.

4-H Cat and Small Pet Show Informational Meeting
Learn about showing your cat and small pet (hamsters, birds, fish, snake, lizard, rat and more)
When: April 20, 2021 at 6PM
Where: 8015 W. Center, Omaha Open to kids ages 5-18 in 4-H.
This show is based on animal health, care and the 4-H'ers knowledge - not judged on breeds.
4-H enrollment info. will also be given out at the meeting. RSVP or send any questions to Mirissa at mscholting2@unl.edu
4-H Sign Up
Sign up for 4-H here. Families that sign up between now and April 5 will be able got get an “I Belong” yard sign! Families that have signed up prior will be eligible to get a yard sign after April 5th. While Supplies Last.

Douglas-Sarpy has a opportunity to put together an intermediate team (ages 10-13) and a Senior Team (14-18) for Livestock and another one for Poultry.

*Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a national multi-species quality assurance program with a focus on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development. This is required for youth ages 8 and up who plan to show animals in the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H program.

Big Red Camp registration is now open!
Big Red Summer Academic Camps are residential, career exploration camps held at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. By participating in a camp youth get the opportunity to explore the Nebraska campus, meet people from across the country, spend time investigating an interest or potential career, and have a lot of fun!
