EDUCATOR(s) OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the entire MPSD Custodial Team for being recognized as our Educators of the Week.
These dedicated men and women have worked tirelessly to keep our buildings clean and safe as we began a new school year. They are an integral part of our school community and everyday they do all they can to help support our students and staff, in and out of the classroom. Beyond the work they do around the buildings, they are often the first smiling faces our students and staff see when they enter school in the morning.
We are fortunate to have them on our team and as we recognized Custodian Appreciation Day this week, we could not think of a better group to honor than our hard working custodians. #bettertogether
PSAT/NMSQT FOR MHS JUNIORS- October 12th
Important Reminder for Juniors and Parents/Guardians
On Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, all MHS juniors will be given the PSAT/NMSQT exam during the school day. The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is a standardized test created by the College Board, that measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing and math that students need to be successful in both college and their careers. It is also used as a qualifying exam for entry into the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSQT), which provides high-scoring students with a multitude of scholarship opportunities.
Taking the PSAT exam gives students excellent practice for the SAT exam required by many colleges, but in a non-high stakes setting. In addition, the score report generated by the results, provides students with important feedback on their individual strengths and areas for improvement, as well as customized practice through Khan Academy.
Students should bring pencils, a calculator and a snack to school that day and should try and get a good night's rest.
If you have questions, feel free to email me at cford@mpsd.org before Weds.
If you'd like to learn more about the exam or the National Merit Scholarship Program:

Grade 9 Parent/Guardian Meet & Greet- October 13th
It's hard to believe we're already into October of freshman year!
Now that we've reached the middle of Term 1, we hope your sons and daughters have managed to navigate the high school and their classes, with relative ease. The counselors have visited the homerooms a few times so hopefully, the students have an idea of who their counselor is, should they need any assistance.
We would like to offer you, their parents and guardians, the same opportunity!. On Thursday, October 13th, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., come join the Guidance staff for an informal "Meet and Greet" in the MHS Library. You will have an opportunity to meet your son/daughter's guidance counselor and we will share a little bit about what we do and what you can expect over the next four years, as well as answering questions you may have regarding life and learning at MHS.
Hope you can join us!
Caralie Ford, MHS Guidance Coordinator
