A Note from Mrs. Phillips
Dear Charles Families:
It's May, can you believe it? It feels like we were just welcoming your students and now it's time to prepare them for summer break. We are finishing up state testing and have a lot of end of the year activities planned. Here is what is coming up in the month of May:

- Teacher and staff appreciation week (May 2-6)
- Celebration of Excellence
- 4th grade trip to Camp Wilderness
- More Than Words final Assembly: Perseverance
- PTO sponsored all-school field trip to see Bad Guys (K-3) 5/13
- PTO sponsored all-school field trip to 40 bowl (4th grade) 5/13
- Jacy House visits for grades 2-4
- 4th grade talent show (5/20)
- Field Day (5/19)
- National Elementary Honor Society Induction (5/19)
- Kindergarten and 4th grade promotion (5/26)
End of year awards will be given out to students in their classrooms this year. We will hold a kindergarten and 4th grade promotion on the last day of school. Please look for more information from your child's teacher.
We have to give a shout out to the Stamm Koechlein Family Foundation as they have supported our efforts this year in student activities and behavior. As a result of their financial contribution, we are able to take our 4th graders on our annual camping trip to Wilderness Ridge. They are a wonderful community partner and we can't express enough our gratitude for their supports.
This month we also complete our Jacy House, Speak Up, Be Safe program for grades 2-4. Jacy House has been a long time community partner that brings advocacy and awareness to our students. These evidence-based prevention programs educate and empower our children and adults with safety rules that apply to bullying, cyberbullying, digital dangers and all types of child abuse. We can't thank them enough for their partnership this year. Please click the link below for more information about how you can support their efforts.
We had wonderful participation for our PTO Book Fair. Because of your support, our library will receive $1700 worth of new books! THANK YOU!
Please don't forget your child has the opportunity to practice at home, every day, with Lexia and Dreambox. You may access both through the Clever portal by clicking here. If your child needs their username and password, please contact their teacher. I hope to see your child's name on our dashboard of growth!
As always, I'm here if you need anything. I try my best to put things out there on Dojo and Social Media. If there is anything else I can do better, please let me know. You can send a personal message via Dojo, Facebook or Twitter. You may also email me or call the office. That information is found below.
Be kind, be amazing, and be YOU!
