Math Instructional Specialist

Katie Snider, our Math Instructional Specialist, will be on campus on Friday, the 18th. Please plan to attend. Bring your curriculum documents, pacing guides, and other resources and be ready to collaborate and get new information about our Math TEKS. We will meet in the workroom behind the Library.

Allen Learning Walks

We will start Allen Learning Walks next week! When we are in your classroom, please do not stop the work you are doing with students. As a reminder, we are looking for:

  • a posted lesson objective
  • clear evidence that students are learning the correct TEKS at the correct level
  • active participation of students in the learning objective
  • teachers who are in the power zone and working with students directly
  • small group, purposeful talk
  • effective recognition of students for their thinking (specific!)
  • critical writing
  • use of technology by students

You will not have each of these elements in every lesson in the few minutes that we are in your class. But over time, we should see evidence of all of them because they are powerful components of quality instruction. :)

Let's hear it for SSI, DT, and ESL!

Special thanks this week to Jennifer Latimer, Kathy Blahitka, Kristi Tye, Julie O'Brien, and Maria Seid! These ladies have been working tirelessly to make sure that all of our students have the necessary beginning of the year assessments, that their tight schedules will accommodate the most students in the easiest way for classroom teachers, and much more. Give these ladies a hug or a high five and thank them for all they do! We are lucky to have them!

We have birthdays...

Happy birthday this week to:
  • Terri Cooper
  • Stephanie Harris
