What could you do with $5,000?

Starting January 15th , High Impact Grants ARE BACK to let principals in on the fun! Work with your team and make a short video about your idea(s) and submit it on Twitter to @ImagineSPS1 with the tag - #ImagineGrant. Need more information? Check out the “How To” document for details. If you have any further questions, please contact Christine Jones or Sarah Foster for further information!

We look forward to seeing your big ideas on how to make your school an engaging, relevant and personal environment for your students and staff!

Board of Education Meeting

Tuesday, Jan. 23rd, 5:30pm

1359 East Saint Louis Street

Springfield, MO

from J-

I have started the process of student projections for next year, which drives FTE allocation. As it comes together I will be connecting with you concerning what I see. You may want do your own projections as well. I'll be talking about this as I come your way for site visits.

Missouri State University is working to coordinate the arrival of 100 families from Saudi Arabia to participate in the English Language Institute. The Institute provides English language support to international students seeking a full immersion program to increase fluency within the context of our community. We anticipate adding 45 children to Springfield Public Schools, many with little to no English language. Jeremy Borland (English Language Learner Director), is coordinating with Health Services, Transportation, Early Childhood, and Counseling to provide a special SPS intake day on Feb. 12th to ensure a smooth transition. Once sites have been identified Jeremy will provide building leaders training regarding cultural customs and arrange building level orientations for the students before they begin.

Here's to a full week of school next week. Please discourage any and all snow dances...

repeat post - Rookie of the Year information

Every year, we have the exciting opportunity to welcome new teachers to our district. As they begin their careers, it is wonderful for us to be a part of and support their learning and growing.

The Rookie of the Year award was established in honor of Malori McGhee, an outstanding beginning teacher was tragically killed in an accident during her first year. The purpose of this award is to honor novice teachers (first through third year) who demonstrate and exemplify building meaningful connections with students and connects students to their learning, collaborates with peers and grows their skillset and capacity at exemplary levels, and believes that relationships and education are the key to opening opportunities now and in the future.

The Rookie of the Year will be awarded at the Annual Teachers’ Banquet. Please note: this award is not sponsored by the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools Teacher Banquet; it is simply presented as part of the evening celebrations.

If you have a first year teacher you wish to nominate, please complete the nomination form by clicking here. Nominations will be accepted through Feb 23, 2018.
