Big picture

This coming week, we look forward to celebrating the exceptional work and dedication of our Creston teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week! During these unique times we are facing in our community and world right now, the CIMS Teaching Staff has stepped up to make sure they are connecting with and supporting our students. Our teachers and staff have shown flexibility, patience, compassion, determination, and love (all of which we need right now more than ever) and we are so grateful to all of them!

Students - if you can, try to send some of your teachers an email of gratitude; or, create a sign or note that you can share during your Core Connect Class on Tuesday or Thursday! I know your teachers will appreciate your kind words -- our Creston Admin. Team is excited to honor and recognize our staff throughout the week, as well!

Parents & Caregivers - We are excited to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8, but we also wish to recognize YOUR efforts these last several weeks! Thank you for supporting your child's Learn at Home experience! We could not do this without YOU!

Students, Parents, and Caregivers,

We are excited to have concluded week 3 of Learn at Home! We sincerely appreciate each family's efforts in getting your student online - our teachers are enjoying connecting with students!

Please be sure to review important scheduling information found below in this week's newsletter! Coming up on Monday, students in grades 5, 6, and 7 will have the opportunity to review videos from their grade-level counselor about the class scheduling process. Then, students will receive a link to a Google Form in an email from their counselor - students should complete the form by Friday, May 8th with their class preferences. If you have further questions related to this process, please be sure to reach out to your child's school counselor (or keep scrolling for teachers' contact info!)
*Students in Grade 8 will receive Summer PE Registration information Monday at 8:00 AM (via email, from Ms. Goff, 8th grade counselor).

We are very excited to celebrate this week's Students of the Week - each teacher nominates one student for going above and beyond with their Learn at Home activities. Check out the list and video below - I will be reaching out to our grade level winners soon so they can select their prizes!

Indianapolis Colts - The House of Blue

This time of year, Blue (the Colts mascot) is typically traveling Indiana performing school shows. Although our current circumstances do not allow him to do so, the Mascot Program has remained committed to bringing fun and educational messages to all students through these uncertain times.

Which is why Blue and his family have started a new YouTube series, The House of Blue. Each episode features various segments. Some examples:

· Did you Know – A teaching moment of the show

· Kids’ Table – Featuring Blue’s children

· Cooking with Carol – a cooking show with me

· Mascot Minute – featuring one of Blue’s mascot friends

We hope this can be an additional resource for you and your students as they transition to digital learning. Below you can find a links to each of the episodes and the episode playlist on YouTube, where you can check back for new episodes!
