Happy New Year & Welcome Back!
As we return to school, we have many learning opportunities planned for our students. Our teachers are collaborating to ensure that each student's needs are being met. Through teacher learning, data interpretation, and student conferences, we are expecting huge gains in student learning as we move forward throughout the rest of the year.
Please take a moment to read about the highlights here at PGES. If you have any questions or need anything, please contact the school or me.
Thank you,
Mrs. Leslie Coker
Highlights
Student Conferences!
Students meet with me to see their data and plan personal goals to increase their scores. We want students to feel they have a part in their learning.
Teacher Learning!
Teachers learn too! We want our students to have the best education here at PGES. We have professional development that helps us grow in our learning as well.
Student Goal Setting!
Students set personal goals each week based on their conferences with their teacher and their scores.
How Can I Help My Child?
Strategies
Reading:
A child's success as a reader begins much earlier than the first day of school. Reading, and a love for reading, begins at home. Please read with your child nightly. Read their reading story or library book with them. Help them see the importance of reading.
Math:
The Math Seven Poster helps you solve word problems with your child. Problem solving is critical to mathematical success.
Engage Math
We are so excited about the growth we are seeing in Math. Engage provides our students with so much information to solve problems. Look for those opportunities to talk about Math with your child.
Assessment
Next week we will be conducting our midyear assessment. We use this information to guide our instruction so that we can meet each student's individual learning needs and goals.
