We realize that it has been full of challenges and new opportunities to problem solve. We thank you for the ways that you have continually adapted and adjusted your teaching in order to reach your students both virtually and face-to-face. News About Pre-K and Kinder Early Childhood Data System (ECDS) Submission

Pre-K and Kinder Data Can Be Submitted Beginning November 9th!

The Early Childhood Data System (ECDS) is a state reporting feature in the Texas Student Data System (TSDS).

  • The window for submitting KINDERGARTEN data is November 9, 2020 through January 28, 2021.
  • The window for submitting PREKINDERGARTEN data is November 9, 2020 through June 24, 2021.

The reporting of kindergarten data is mandatory for all LEAs that administer an approved tool from the commissioner's list, which currently includes the following:


  • Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment (TX-KEA) by CLI Engage
  • mCLASS Texas Edition by Amplify Education
  • One year only (Schools that submitted for a waiver by September 30th, can use another instrument. The waiver request submission window is now closed.)


The reporting of public prekindergarten program data into ECDS is mandatory for LEAs that administer a prekindergarten program. Click the link below for more information about PreK data.

WORKSHOP!! Kindergarten Connections: Preparing for the 4th Six Weeks of Kindergarten MATH & READING!

December 1st

  • 9:00-4:00
  • Face-to-Face at Region 17 OR Virtually via Zoom.

This full day training for kindergarten teachers will be centered around TEKS that will be taught in the 4th Six Weeks for reading and math.

During the session, we will cover the following concepts:

Math Topics:

  • Introducing and Developing Numbers 16 – 20
  • Reciting Numbers to at Least 100
  • Representing numbers with concrete and pictorial models
  • Make and take: 10 Frames and Reckenrecks

Reading Topics:

  • Understanding Literary Elements in Fiction, Including Drama
  • Characters, setting, and plot elements
  • Retelling the main events
  • Author's purpose
  • Narrative writing: Beginning, Middle, and End text structure

Please note, that we will be covering the TEKS addressed in the 4th Six weeks of the TEKS Resource System IFD. You are more than welcome to attend even if you do not use TEKS Resource System. You will still be able to transfer the information to the TEKS covered, even if it falls at a different time in your scope and sequence.

This workshop will be offered face-to-face or virtually. Attendance for the face-to-face session will be limited to 46 participants to allow for social distancing.

Literacy Learning On Demand: Asynchronous Reading and Writing Trainings
