February 1 - 5 is National School Counselor's Week

National School Counseling Week 2016, "School Counseling: The Recipe for Success," will be celebrated from Feb. 1-5, 2016, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February.

Did you know that heart health numbers could literally save your life?

The biometric screenings are for employees that are currently on one of the District's medical plans. The screening is voluntary and there is no cost to you, so sign up now!

Screenings will be held at WRES on 2/2/16 from 7:00 am - 9:30 am and are by appointment only

Let Michelle know who needs coverage. I know of only a couple, as of right now.

Writing for 100th Day of School

Have students make their own books based on one of the following themes (or make up your own):

  • I wish I had 100 __.
  • What would you do with 100 brothers and sisters?
  • What would you do with 100 kisses?
  • What would you do with 100 pennies?
  • What would you do with 100 dollars?
  • What would you do with 100 slimy slugs?
  • You have been in school for 100 days. What has been your favorite thing?
  • What will you do when you are 100 years old?
  • What was it like to be a student your age 100 years ago?
  • What will it be like to be a student your age 100 years from now?
  • Things our moms and dads have told us 100 times!
  • Or, try making a poem or story with exactly 100 words in it.

News from Charlie -

Weather Policy AR

  • Our weather is unpredictable. Please make sure you follow our district policy in regards to cold days. In addition, please work with substitute teachers when your team members are absent on these days.
  • At or below 40 degrees including wind chill factor, elementary and intermediate students may go outside if clothing allows for proper coverage and protection from the cold.
  • At or below 32 degrees including wind chill factor, all elementary and intermediate students stay inside.

Fire Drills

  • Our fire drills will now be unannounced. It’s been extremely difficult to follow our fire drill calendar days due to weather. Many of our scheduled drills were cancelled/re-scheduled due to rain or extreme cold. In an effort to follow our drills, they will now be unannounced. Please speak to your students, so that they are aware of our new drill procedures.

Jump Rope for Heart

Teachers,

Jump Rope For Heart donation envelopes are in class sets in your boxes.

Send those home with the students on Monday please. If they were sent home today that is fine also.

The envelopes are due on or before Feb. 11th. They can turn them into me or Ms. Jada.
