School Newsletter - 15th Edition - 14th September 2022
from the principal
Dear Families
Thanks to all for helping term 3 be successful.
Our children have had a fun term full of camps, sport days, dress up days, excursions and learning.
Hats
Today we begin our holidays and look forward to term 4 in just over two weeks.
Term 4 will bring warmer weather and we will enjoy the outdoors for both learning and play. Please remember to ensure your child has their hat at school each day. We want to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Year Six
Our Year 6 students are slowly developing their leadership skills and certainly showing that they are nearly ready for secondary school. This week they showcased their Countries of the World inquiry unit with an expo. It was impressive to hear and see what they have discovered about their chosen country. During this inquiry the students have been developing their research and summarizing skills along with articulating information.
Camps
Our Year Three camp and Leaders Snow camp were both successful. Our children were able to show resilience and independence as well as develop new skills through various tasks at both these camps. They had plenty of fun and strengthened their relationships with peers and teachers.
Foundation
Foundation Students enjoyed a tour of SAM and participated in an activity. They were in awe of this amazing building along with the paintings and artefacts inside. They also put their investigating minds to work as they walked around the lake.
Mrs V
Our Year two students say good bye to Kaylee Vanderdonk this week, who is going on leave to welcome her new baby in a few weeks. We want to say thank you to Kaylee for all her dedicated work here at bourchier St PS and wish her well in her new role as a mum.
COVID
Continue to monitor for COVID. Please test if you have symptoms and Isolate if the results are positive. If you need any RAT tests please contact our office.
Happy holidays! I hope everyone is able to enjoy some free time away from the routines associated with school. We look forward to term 4 where children can continue their learning and enjoy fun times with friends.
Kind regards
Denise
No students at school Day on 16TH September
16th September has been designated as a “no school day” for our children here at Bourchier St PS. The department has allocated a day to all schools for teachers to plan teaching and learning programs appropriate to their school. So on September 16th all our teachers will be involved in professional learning and planning for the end of the year. Their Care will operate for any family who wishes to book in to use their services on this day.
Ashefest
Some of our Koorie P-2 students had an awesome day at AsheFEST last Wednesday the 7th. Held at the Rumbalara Football oval, we had a blast participating in traditional Aboriginal games, activities and dance, all which were very well coordinated by students from the ASHE school community. It was a fantastic day for the Koorie children of Bourchier Street to further connect with their culture and community.
Bourchier Staff go all out in the dress up days!

reporting covid positive
Reminders
Monitor closely for symptoms. Children must stay home and get tested if showing symptoms. If test positive, isolate for 7 days until negative. Notify the school that your child has tested positive.Test twice a week during school time.
We need everyone healthy and fit so that learning at school can continue. We all know what remote learning is like and we dont want to go back to that.
Please talk to your children about the importance of mask wearing and please send a mask each day to school with your child. Our junior school children are not required to wear a mask but we certainly encourage it if they are comfortable to do so.
If your child is a household contact they must take 5 rapid antigen tests (RATs) over 7 days and receive negative test results and wear a face mask (if over 8 years old) in indoor spaces.
Children who have had COVID do not need to test for 30 days after isolation has ended..
If your child tests positive please register this on COVID Test Portal or call the school to inform us and we will register for you. Please do not register negative results.
Please consider getting your child vaccinated if you have not already done so.
