A Message from your Principal
It is here.... The first day of school for the 2021-2022 school year. I hope you can hear my excitement for the school year ahead.
I know that many of you are also feeling excited, nervsous or even apprehensive. This is our first day of school for some students in 18 months. Please know that our whole focuse during the first two weeks of school (and throughout the school year) is supporting your students in having a positive learning and emotional experience at Zachry Middle School and Magnet School. We will have a welcoming teachers and counselors as students arrive on campus Monday to guide your students to our cafeteria or directly to their classrooms depending on the time they arrive. Families, we ask that you allow your student to enter the building and we will support them. If adults need to see the nurse we will certainly guide you to her office. We will help all students find their new classrooms, get to lunch and home safely. Please make sure your student knows how they are to go home and we will direct them to the correct entrance.
Your student's health is important to us! Our custodians have sanitized our building and will contnue to do so throughout each day. Masks do need to be worn by all (Students, Teachers, Staff and Parents/Guardians entering the building) starting Monday, August 23rd. Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are in classrooms as well as hand sanitizer/hand washing facilities in the building. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle for our Water Bottle Fill stations.
In order to support the anticipation of the first days of school, please see the videos linked below with a tour of our school and guidance on Parent/Guardian Pick up Drop off. The direction of Pickup/Drop off has changed!!! Cars will now enter by the construction side of Timber Path and exit on the driveway closer to Knowlton!! Buses will continue to use the bus loop. Please do NOT drive into the bus loop area for student safety. Walking students will take the sidewalk to the Athletic Entrance where they will have access to the building and the bike and skateboard racks. Please have a lock for use of the bike (chain style) and skateboard racks (padlock).
August 23rd - First day of School - The first bell will ring at 8:35 am. School dismisses at 4:10 pm each day. Breakfast is free for all students and is served 8-8:30 am. Students who are not eating breakfast at school need to be on campus by 8:30 to get to class on time. If a family needs to have their student arrive between 7-8 am, those students will be in the cafeteria sitting until breakfast is served. After the first day of school, on good weather days students will be dismissed to the grade level outdoor areas with teacher supervision.
Students will be given a map of the school as they arrive. Students will also get a new paper copy of their schedule on color paper. You can also see the most recent updates on schedules in the Home Access Center. The students will also bring home an informational packet the first day of school about our campus, Title 1 information and district information. There are no items to return.
Chromebooks and other items that were passed out during Prep day will be dispersed to students who were unable to come to Prep Day throughout the first week of school (NOT the First Day of Schoo).
September 2nd - Title 1 Annual Information Meetings see event information below - Please come and hear about our additional funding and how it is used for all students at Zachry and Zachry Magnet Middle School.
Looking forward to a great 2021-2022 school year.
