In Washington, there are two different applications for financial aid, but you only need to file one:
- File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if you are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- File the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) if you are not eligible to complete the FAFSA due to immigration status.
You should apply for financial aid as soon after October 1 as possible. Do not wait until you are admitted to apply.
You do not need to know whether or where you plan to go to school or what programs you might be interested in to file for financial aid.
Awards are made until funds are depleted.
Visit the CAREER CENTER if you need help. Hours are 6:30 am - 3:00 pm every day
*To create your FAFSA ID you need to know your Social Security number*

South Kitsap High School utilizes a program called Xello (sounds like Zello) to support students in high school and beyond planning.
Go to https://helloid.skschools.org. If a login prompt comes up, use your district student provided login ID and password (same ID and password used with the PC’s in the library or computer labs).
- Choose the Xello link to open the Xello Dashboard and complete each of the lessons to finish your HSBP.
The high school website has more information at: https://skhs.skschools.org/students/high_school___beyond_plan___xello_
You can do this online from home. See your Counselor or visit the Career Center if you need help completing this task.
