Welcome Back!
BGV Families,
Welcome to the 19-20 school year! I hope that you have spent quality time relaxing and playing this Summer. I am looking forward to seeing your students again in a few short weeks. Don’t forget to join us on August 16th at 4:00 p.m. for Open House.
This summer, our teachers have been learning a new math curriculum and will be partnering with math experts throughout the year to focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics. Be sure to ask your students about their learning in math this year. Teachers will also continue our character education with grit and perseverance. This continues to be a trait we believe is essential for students to learn.
As always, this year will be another great year because of the partnership we have with you. We will continue to involve you through communicating the learning and activities of the school year. Be on the lookout for newsletters, emails, phone calls, and fliers. You can also connect directly with your child’s teacher at any time. The more involved you are in your student’s learning, the more likely they will succeed.
Thank you for your continued support for our schools.

New Staff at BES
Secretary Peggy Newman
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Peggy Newman and eight years ago, my husband was hired by Simplot and we moved to Bruneau from Kuna. I continued working at Micron as coordinator/planner and made the round trip of 123 miles Monday through Thursday. October 7th, would have been my 36th year of employment there. Recently, I had an opportunity for early retirement from Micron. It was a hard decision and bitter sweet, but it is time for a new adventure.
My husband and I are “empty nesters”, but we are still very close to our 23 year old twin daughters, Mickie and Jackie. I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and of course my dogs. If you are around me for very long, you will realize that I love dogs. I am animal crazy, but dogs are my favorite. My moto, “you can never have too many dogs”.
I have two great achievements that I am very proud of, my family and being a 4-H leader. I was one of many leaders in a 4-H club in Canyon County named Saddle Tramps. During my 6 years as a leader, I watched “my” kids grow leaps and bounds in size and mind. So saying that, I am excited about the new chapter in my life!!

BES School Supply List
Dear Bruneau Families,
We really appreciate you supporting Bruneau Elementary. We’ve worked to reduce the costs and
time associated with back-to-school shopping by purchasing many items through our school’s budget.
Our goal again this year has been to keep our school supply list to $20 or less for each student. If
you’re unable to purchase any of these supplies, the school will provide them for your child. Thank
you for supporting our District, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall.
