Away for the Day (Cell phones, personal devices, smart watches, Bluetooth headphones)

Here at OEMS, we are focused on and committed to our students’ learning. We model and reinforce an environment where kindness and integrity triumph. Class meetings, all-school assemblies, shout outs, and lots of positive recognition are evident throughout the year. We are a team and enjoy partnering with your child and you. Now that all students in grades 6-12 have a district issued Chromebook, the need for a cell phone or personal device as an educational tool is no longer relevant.

Starting February 28, we will be implementing an Away for the Day personal digital device expectation, to help reduce distractions and on-line behavior issues while in school. We ask that families help by reinforcing this message at home. Thank you!

Please read the pdf attachment at the link below for more information.

3rd Quarter Virtual Assembly

Today during WIN, we had a whole school virtual assembly. Announcements were read, the February WIN competitions were introduced, members of the student council introduced themselves, a hula-hoop challenge took place and the 7th grade earned bonus points towards the February WIN competitions, and we played building wide MN trivia through Blooket. Many thanks to our WIN Team for coordinating such a fun event.

OEMS Students Participate in the UMD Bulldog Choral Festival

On Tuesday, January 25th, 16 OEMS students from 7th and 8th grade choir participated in the annual UMD Bulldog Choral Festival. The festival was open to students in grades 7-12 from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin and was by invitation only. OEMS students spent several weeks preparing the music at school under the direction of Mrs. Paschen and Mr. Ellison, and continued rehearsing with guest conductors Dr. Ryan Deignan (UMD) and Ms. Nicole Thietje (New Prague High School) on the day of the festival. Their hard work culminated in a wonderful concert featuring music in a variety of styles ranging from local jazz arrangements to Malaysian folk songs. The students did a great job and were excited to participate in a performance after such a long hiatus. Way to go Huskies!

Seeking Coaches - Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is coming back to Ordean East Middle School this spring! Before our runners can register, we are looking for a few more volunteer coaches to make our season happen. Coaches do NOT need to be runners or girls! We are looking for coaches that DO want to have fun and help kids.

Check out the website for more information on how to volunteer this spring: https://www.gotrmn.org/
