Jay has been using some great DBQs and graphic organizers that help students analyze primary sources. This is terrific work Jay. Thanks for sharing. Click Here to access the activity.
This Week in Social Studies
World History
Can you believe we will be in the Middle Ages in a little more than a week? Where does the time go? Next week, we should be finishing Empires and starting Religions, unless you do them in reverse order. For those of you getting ready for religions, were you aware there is a whole lesson already created for this? Check it out here.
Civics and Economics
We are knee deep into Federalism. Do you have any interesting strategies that help students really understand how federalism works? If so, why not share it? Go to Unit 2 in Haiku and submit it in the "Got Ideas" dropbox or send it to Melissa. Need some assessment ideas for this unit? Check out the Formative Assessments (FA) here.
By the way, DPI Social Studies has put out information with primary sources, etc., for the course. It is pretty terrific.
American 1
Was it a boy or a girl? It was a country! And, the United States was born. We are finishing the Revolution next week and looking at the creation of our second government. Check out the Formative Assessments (FA) on the Revolution here.
American 2
Are we currently in a new era of Progressivism? There are a lot of comparisons to be made between the late 19th Century and early 20th Century and today. Keep in mind the topics in this unit will come up again in Unit 4, 6, and 7. When you are done with the Progressives, why not use this graphic organizer to check students understanding.
Benchmark Update
The benchmark window has been adjusted due to the snow/ice. The window for the 6 week benchmark is March 2-10 and the 12 week benchmark is May 2-11. Your pacing guide includes two days for each benchmark. One day for review and one day for testing.
Tech Info
Did you know you can check out which students are using the information you have placed in Haiku? Check out how to use the analytics in Haiku here.

Last Week's Winner of Melissa's Trivia Question
Roger Williams from Kennedy
Thank you to all of those that guessed how many Super Bowl's I have watched. The common guess was zero. But, I have actually watched one Super Bowl. Congrats Roger on winning a $25 gift card to Applebee's.
