BEAR TRACKS
October 25, 2021 • Updates from Roosevelt Elementary
On Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 27 and 28, all 4th- and 5th-graders will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment state test in Math. Please help by encouraging your child to try their best, to attend school on these 2 days, to bring a charged laptop, and to get a good night's sleep. Click here to access practice materials—no login needed. Please contact your child's teacher on ParentSquare or call 573-1700 if you'd like more information.
- This week I would like to pass the Spirit of the Bear award to Mrs. Annie Ausink. She has kept our team moving forward and afloat during these trying and stressful times. Annie is an amazing professional, and a hardworking and talented teacher. She has created and posted so many learning activities for our Roosevelt kindergarteners--it is astounding. Annie is a wonderful person to confide in and work alongside. She can always be counted on to step up into leadership roles within the school to help our students achieve success.

Absences add up for students and can make learning difficult. Starting in kindergarten, absences can cause children to fall behind in school. Missing just a 1-2 days of school each month delays reading and math skills.
Between now and Winter Break, let's make a push for strong attendance whenever possible.
- Make sure your child is at school EVERY DAY unless quarantined/symptomatic, and please schedule appointments after 3:30 pm.
- If symptom-free, get a free COVID test after 5 days to return to school faster.
- If absent, send a ParentSquare message to the teacher to learn about make-up work
