A twist on the exit ticket - as pupils line up outside your room give them an entrance ticket that has an activity for them to do as soon as they come into the room. For example - matching key words and definitions, questions to assess their prior knowledge or review what they have learnt previously. Why do this?Classroom management: For my class it created a very calm, quiet start to lessons where I had previously had messy starts to lessons. It gives you a chance to speak to any pupils, hand out books or get the first 3 finishers to hand books out.Assessment for learning: It allows you to check the current state of knowledge of your pupils. What do they know? What do you need to go over? What key skills have they mastered or need to master? You use the feedback from this to then modify and change your plan in light of what has been said.
