HELP SCSD2 COUNSELORS! The SCSD2 counseling staff would greatly appreciate your help with a brief 3-5 minute survey. The results from this survey are completely anonymous and will help the counseling department apply for a Lilly Foundation grant to improve counseling services for our students. Please complete the survey by March 21.
Ms. Cheryl Miller Honored with "This Bud's For YOU!" Award at Vienna-Finley Elementary School
During a recent staff meeting, LeAnn Taylor, the previous recipient of the "This Bud's for You!" Award at Vienna-Finley, presented Cheryl Miller with the award for the month of March.
Taylor, a second grade teacher at Vienna-Finley, stated the following in honor of Miller, a fourth grade teacher at Vienna-Finley:
"This award is being given to a friend that I spent many days teaching kindergarten with a few years ago. Cheryl Miller and I loved our time teaching five year olds. She enjoys teaching kids of all ages and now spends her days in fourth grade. Cheryl has high expectations of her students and is always patient and kind when assisting students with their school work. The attribute that I greatly admire is how she listens when students just need someone to lend a sympathetic ear. It may be a problem with a friend or sometimes things happening at home, but she always makes time to listen and offers suggestions. Cheryl is dedicated to the teaching profession and spends many extra hours in her classroom. I have spotted her at work on several weekends at Vienna-Finley. Technology is ever changing and challenging, and I feel so fortunate to have Cheryl assist me with computers whenever I get stuck on something. She is always so helpful and is even willing to work outside of school hours when colleagues need assistance." Congratulations Ms. Miller!
4th Grade High Ability Students Visit Mid-America Science Park
Our 4th grade High Ability group recently visited Mid-America Science Park to participate in the Seaperch project. During the project, students from all four elementary schools will work on creating underwater robots to compete in an obstacle course at the Scott County YMCA.
VFES is excited to host our 4th annual Career Day on Friday April 7th. Forms will be sent home with each student that needs to be completed by interested speakers and sent back in so we can contact you about scheduling a time. You can also contact Mrs. Asdell directly or the teacher of your student to discuss this. We would like to thank everyone that was a speaker last year and encourage you to consider being a speaker again this year. The students really enjoy this day and like to learn more about the career opportunities that are out there for them. Please help us educate our students and prepare them for their future.

Snow Days and Delays
In the case of inclement weather, SchoolMessenger calls will be sent to all parent phone numbers. Parents and students can also find out about school changes on our web site, on local radio or TV, and on district Facebook sites. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in Harmony so that you are receiving the SchoolMessenger call.
In the case of a 2 hour delay, schools will begin at 10:05 AM. Bus routes will run two hours late, but riders should be patient as winter roads often slow to travel. Vienna-Finley will still open at 7:30 AM for parents that need to drop off students on the way to work.
If school is cancelled, no sport or club activities will be held.
