The Roar
April 2021
Words from Wyndi
Hello King’s Gate Families!
It is hard to believe that we are moving into spring! Happy Easter!
At King’s Gate, we are celebrating returning to school after Spring Break. After Spring Break 2020, the world went into lockdown as we all were pushed into the deep end of the pandemic. You are, every single one of you, incredible! You have worked hard to prioritize your child’s total well-being -- spiritual, social/emotional, cognitive, and physical. You have given up so much to keep your family and the entire King’s Gate family safe. You have navigated this season with grace and courage! We are honored to walk alongside you as we partner together for your children! Thank you for this sweet privilege!
Have you heard the Good News? Jesus loves you! Jesus came to our planet from the throne of heaven, was crucified for our sin, and then GOD raised Him from the dead to save us! Jesus Christ is alive! He has defeated death and is available to you and to me! This is the Gospel...the Good News! Talking about Jesus is our favorite thing to do, so please reach out to anyone on the King's Gate Team if you would like to know more about Jesus and GOD's great love for you.
"If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is LORD,' and believe in your heart that GOD raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
Happy Easter King’s Gate family! We are praying every day for you and we are here for you!
The best is yet to come,
Wyndi Bradley, Ed. S.
Head of Schools
"And the peace of GOD, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7
Congratulations on 25 years of Service, Ms. Wyndi!
Ms. Wyndi has inspired many who would grow up to become teachers themselves. She is an excellent spiritual leader, encouraging staff with daily devotions, arriving early to pray over the school and each student, speaking words of wisdom and encouragement to staff, students, and family. Her enthusiasm for King's Gate is infectious as evidenced by the enthusiasm with which our Board serves. She is a jewel in the King's Gate crown and we are thankful GOD chose her to lead our school! Congratulations, Ms. Wyndi! Thank you for the countless hours you spend on behalf of our students and teachers!
Village Campus Raises Funds for Hope Pregnancy Center
" I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well."
Psalm 139:14
Upper School Life Launch
Students were given a career, salary and family size. They then spent two days working on their budgets, and learning to be good stewards of their money. They selected a house and car(s). After giving GOD their tithe, they made budgetary decisions about items like clothing, food, insurance, charitable contributions, entertainment...everything they would have to spend as adults was included in this experience.
Life Launch is an essential King's Gate experience along the pathway to graduation. Graduation from King's Gate Christian School is more than the completion of primary and secondary education. Graduation for King's Gate students will be their launch into their post-secondary plan. During WinTerm in January, our students complete career assessments and exploration to identify their interests, strengths, and passions. In various classes, they research careers and salaries, as well as universities and the cost of college tuition. King's Gate's Upper School framework provides rich experiences for students to assess, explore, and build their post-secondary goals. Our partnership includes helping your child plan the steps for their launch into their individual calling!

Wonderground Work Days
The Wonderground is one of our crown jewels at King's Gate. It's impossible to understand science without opportunities for hands-on learning. The Wonderground offers so many different learning experiences, solidifying science concepts into our students' brains, from the smallest to the tallest.
It takes considerable time to keep our Wonderground in good shape. Thank you Ms. Laurie for all you do to make the Wonderground so beautiful for our students! Would you please help us weed, prune, and get our Wonderground ready for the beautiful flowers and vegetation coming soon? Please click on the link below to sign up for a date to come work in the garden. We have slots available 7 days a week from now through the summer. This would make a great family event!

If you know of a group looking for service hours, please call us at 405-283-0144. We'll put you in touch with Ms. Laurie to schedule it. The more people we invite to help us maintain it, the more people know about our school and our amazing science program.
We so appreciate you and the help you provide in keeping our Wonderground beautiful, clean, and ready to be enjoyed by our students.
King's Gate Archery Team
During WinTerm many of our Upper School students participated in an archery and wilderness training track. We learned that a majority of our students loved archery and would like to participate on an archery team. With Mr. Cartwright leading the way, we are about to launch our first athletic team at King's Gate! Equipment including bows and arrows have already arrived. We are anxiously awaiting the backstop equipment.
We are hoping to enter our Lion Archery Team into a few competitions this spring! Go Lions!
Enrollment is Open Online!
We are busy assessing new students for next year. While our younger classes are filling up, we still have room in 4th grade and up.
We've added a page on our website for returning family enrollment. You'll find step-by-step instructions about how to enroll under the "Enroll Now" button.
Please help us spread the word about King's Gate. We believe families are hungry for an alternative to public school and may not realize we're here. We have a special link for new families to enroll. Feel free to share it with your friends and family.
Please call us at 405-283-0144 if you have any questions.
Amazing gRace May 4th and 5th
DATE CHANGE FROM OUR LAST NEWSLETTER! Our March newsletter published an April date. We have changed the date anticipating warmer weather:
- Village races on Tuesday, May 4th at 10am
- Surrey Hills races on Wed., May 5th at 10am
You should have received an email with all the race details, as well as your packet. Here's a summary of dates:
- Friday, April 16th - Race Sponsorship forms due. Race sponsors get name (or student name) printed on the back of our race t-shirts worn by all students and staff.
- May 3-7 - Spirit Week. The class with the most points* chooses our dress up days.
Participation
- 97 of 119 students Primer-9th grade brought back 12 envelopes and enjoyed Chic-fil-A lunch on March 31. Thank you so much for your support! Well Done!
- Loose Change Challenge - The teacher's jar with the most loose change gets a PIE IN THE FACE!! Students can choose which teacher's jar to drop their loose change. They don't have to choose their own teacher. Who will get the pie in the face? We're collecting now through race day. The race is on! Will it be Mrs. Phares or Ms. Emma and Ms. Joy who eat pie!?
- Top Golf - Every student that brings a $150 donation is entered once in a drawing for a $200 Top Golf gift card. Donations of $250 or more get 3 entries into the drawing. Who is our biggest fundraiser?
- Cold, hard, CASH - The student with the most total money donated and the student with the most donations from sponsors of $30 or more will both receive $100 cash!
- Human Sundae - When we reach our school fundraising goal of $35,000, Mrs. Wyndi Bradley will be made into a human sundae by our students! We can do this!
Race Day
Make sure your student wears the Amazing gRace t-shirt! These are free for our students. Each class runs individually, starting with our Primer Class and working our way to the Upper School.
Because of COVID precautions, our Village campus will run their own race on May 4. The youngest class starts our race. We'll move through the classrooms so each student has a turn.
At Surrey Hills on May 5th, runners will stay within their "family classroom group" and distanced from other classes. We'll still cheer each other on from a safe distance.
Unfortunately, we can't invite parents to the race this year. We're working really hard to avoid any more quarantines this close to the end of the year. We'll send videos via email so you don't miss out.
*Earning Class Points:
3 points for each set of 12 addressed envelopes returned (we combine smaller classes)
1 point for each addressed envelope after 12
1 point for each race sponsor form returned
We are so grateful for your help in making this Amazing gRace a success!
Summer at King's Gate
Cost is $270 (includes enrollment fee). Get enrollment forms here. Summer at King's Gate is open to anyone, whether a King's Gate student or not. We still have room for you to invite your friends.

Meet Victoria Hazboun
Hello friends and family! I am a new hire to the King’s Gate Early Childhood Team this year. However, I am coming into my 4th year in early childhood education. This career field has changed my life and has given me a greater purpose than I could have ever imagined! Prior to early childhood education, I was very active in many facets of the performing arts and worked as a professional actor and vocalist in Oklahoma and New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2014, I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where I attended ministry school, met and married my husband, and made my early childhood education debut. Recently, my husband and I transitioned back to Oklahoma to be near family. We feel called to this amazing state and we look forward to serving the people in it.
Seeing as my husband was a Worship Pastor for 5 years in New Orleans, we love to spend our spare time sharing new music, writing songs, singing, and worshiping together. We are also active and energetic people who love the outdoors and spending time with our 13-year-old pup, Sasha. With that being said, we also are avid foodies who are adventurous at-home chefs and are thrilled to find some new places to delight our taste buds with!
3 Fun Facts:
- I am a natural-born Canadian.
- I’ve sung every voice part in my musical ensemble career but bass.
- I met my father when I was 16 and was adopted as an adult by my foster mom.
COVID-19 UPDATE APRIL 2021
In March we had one individual who was positive for the virus. Our Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes were quarantined due to direct exposure to COVID. None of the individuals who were quarantined due to direct exposure ever developed symptoms nor tested positive for the virus. All individuals completed the required period of quarantine before returning to school.
We currently have one individual out due to direct exposure to the virus. It is not a school related case.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION to remember:
A “direct exposure” is one in which an individual is directly exposed (has close contact, i.e. are within 6 feet for ≥ 15 minutes) to a COVID-positive individual. An “indirect exposure” is one in which an individual is exposed to someone else who was previously, directly, exposed to a COVID-positive individual.
Per the Back to School Guidelines, Canadian County Health Department (CCHD) is contacted for notification and recommendation in each situation. For direct exposures, the exposed individuals are required to quarantine for up to 14 days following their last day of direct exposure. For individuals who experience an indirect exposure, quarantine not required, as per CCHD and the CDC, there is “little to no risk” of contracting the virus in this type of exposure.
Notification and follow-up with affected individuals/families takes place in each situation while also maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
We are continuing to grow in our knowledge and experience in responding to exposures. We appreciate the input and information that many of you have shared with us regarding your own experiences and desire for better and ongoing communication and information.
As always, we pray daily for exceptional health and safety for our students, teachers, and all our King’s Gate families. May God keep you and bless you, each and every one.
