SAFE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT
Hallway Class this week: Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:15-4:00 p.m.
Please continue to communicate hallway expectations and the hallway class concept with your students and families. Feel free to copy and paste from the WOW to your weekly parent communicator.
Thank YOU for enforcing expectations for ALL students. Some days are easier than others, but it makes an impact on our climate and culture, student growth and achievement, and a safe and caring, well-disciplined environment when we all work as a team. We could not do it without YOU!
CLIMATE AND CULTURE
School Community - Goal 1: By creating a warm and welcoming environment that encourages family and teacher involvement, we will increase participation in school events by both families and teachers.
Our staff showed tremendous support for our “Bingo for Jack” night with 17 staff members in attendance and over 200 people who attended the event. Overall, we have increased staff attendance throughout the year at all school events and PTA meetings. We appreciate all you do to support our students and families.
Building Community – Goal 2: By creating a positive and trusting building environment that fosters collaboration and communication, we will increase building morale for our faculty, staff, and students.
One concern shared from various staff is the need for more time. In order for you to prepare for students and/or collaborate with colleagues, we would like to give you a small gift of time. Therefore, there will be NO faculty meeting on Wednesday, February 5th. Please take the time to do what you need for your classroom and students.

COMMUNICATION HIGHLIGHT
Chrissie made a great point at WFSG this week that some of our families (and sometimes us) need multiple reminders about events, messages, dates, and more. I liked the idea that some of you make repeat communication easy by cutting and pasting from the Weekly WOW for your own weekly parent communicator.
Here is a sample of Joanna's SeeSaw announcement to parents about this week's hallway expectations (feel free to borrow):
In addition, this week we have been practicing showing our GO CATS in the hallway. We chose kindness by smiling and waving at others, we acted respectfully by using level 0 voices so that we wouldn't distract any learners, we took responsibility by staying in a straight line on the right hand side of the hallway, and we stayed safe by using walking feet and facing forward. Overall, we did a wonderful job!!
*Disclaimer: When I share a colleague's communication, I always share with permission.
PRINCIPAL'S GOALS
Thank you to the faculty for providing specific feedback about two areas that I would like to improve...
Area 1. The perception of micromanagement, and
Area 2. The perception of excluding others in decision making.
I'll be adding this section to our weekly newsletter to hold me accountable and to provide you with reminders to hold me accountable.
First up... Area 1
1. As a follow-up from last week's IST note, please work directly with Mark if you have questions about meetings or the process. I'm more than happy to help if you need my assistance. Likewise, I'll come to you if I have questions.
Second up... Area 2
1. Thank you to those of you who attended one of the drop-in sessions today. I have two drop-in sessions for next week. See the Google Calendar invite. Please accept/click yes, if you plan to attend. Please know that you can discuss what's on your mind at anytime too... you do not need to wait for a drop-in session.
