Evidence
Unjammed is made possible by funding from ECMC. In order to show them the impact of Unjammed, we have to collect evidence each month. That evidence is put in a tally sheet that you can check each month to see how you are progressing. If something is missing in your tally sheet email Kat right away and she will address it. You can also make up missing items in your tally sheet. When you have finished a make up item, email Kat to let her know and she will make sure it gets recorded.
***PLEASE do NOT email evidence to Kat. It makes it hard to track and it may get lost. Please, always submit evidence to the links below.

March
The goal for March is to create a Makerspace reflection. The tool that I would like you to use to create your reflection is S'more. Please include a written summary of how you are using your Makerspace tools, pictures, videos, lesson plans, and standards you are achieving. Click here to see an example; I pulled these materials off of the web. You do not have to copy my S'more, but this should help you understand the expectations. The lesson plan can be something that you have created or adapted from someone else; just make sure that you give credit. We are very lucky to have funders who support these generous tools in our classroom and they are looking forward to your reflections.
Submit your Makerspace Reflection here.

April
This is our last month of goals. This month's goal is to obtain School Certification from Common Sense Education. The school certification process involves everyone in your school. One teacher should lead the project with the help of their principal. You will be asked to document the work that you have done with students and secure care (you may have a different name but this refers to security staff). I have annotated a PDF of the application (attached) so that you can see what it is involved in the school certification process. Please feel free to schedule a call with me to discuss how we can help you achieve school certification. Click here to submit your digital citizenship school certification.
What is the process?
For your school to earn recognition as a Common Sense School, the following actions must be completed:
- Create a school vision including digital citizenship and digital teaching (new this year!).
- Develop a Common Sense School Implementation Plan. You will be asked to enter the implementation details in the Common Sense School application. The implementation plan should include all criteria outlined in the following steps.
- Provide professional development to all educators on digital teaching and digital citizenship. PD may be conducted in person (by school staff) or online, using Common Sense Education resources. In-person PD may be combined to cover both topics. For a resource list, see the FAQ.
- One or more educators leads digital citizenship instruction on at least two full grade levels using Common Sense Education resources. All students at those grade levels must receive instruction. Schools have two options to meet student-instruction criteria:
- On two grade levels, teach five lessons/modules/storylines/or two Digital Bytes,
- OR on three grade levels, teach three lessons/modules/storylines/or one Digital Byte
- Engage secure care facility-wide and educate them in three distinct ways. Here are some examples:
- Distributed Common Sense Family Tip Sheets
- Had students and secure care fill out Family Media Agreements
- Coordinated a Digital Citizenship Week
- Facilitated a secure care staff meeting on digital citizenship
- Hosted a teen panel for secure care
- Published article about the importance of digital citizenship in the school newsletter
- Facilitated a secure care discussion group
- 6. Save at least three pieces of documentation from your efforts implementing: professional development, digital citizenship student instruction, and/or secure care outreach to submit with the Common Sense School application.
