A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving has passed and we will soon be celebrating the Winter Holiday Season. At Goodman Middle School, we have lots to be thankful for! For me, I am so thankful for the 500+ smiling faces that enter our building, our wonderful staff, and the families within the Goodman Middle School Community.
Stay involved in the academic and social areas of your middle school student's life. Here are some ways to do that:
· Know where your students are before and after school. Also please remember campus does not open or have supervision until 7:45 a.m. on school days.
· Have access to your student's information through our Parent Portal.
· Make sure your contact information is current.
· Stay connected by keeping up-to-date through our social media and school webpage.
· Join our parent groups-volunteers are always appreciated.
We wish you and your families the best Holiday Season and are excited for what
2019 will bring! Happy Holidays!!
Respectfully,
Ty Robuck-Principal

Wrestling Team
What a great season of Goodman Wrestling. The season ended with a district tournament on Saturday the 8th. Our team displayed an amazing amount of courage and perserverance. A big thank you to the VPO for their work getting us new uniforms.

Cell Phone Policy At Goodman
This year the staff at Goodman have begun working on a few new policies to ensure consistency across the building. One of these is the use of cell phones. Our current policy is still a work in progress but we have started the year with the current outline. Please help us with this policy. If you need to contact your child please call the school directly and we will either bring your child to the office to make a call or send them a message. Also, if you are receiving texts from your child during the day, please ask them that evening when they are texting and review the policy with them. Thank you for your support with this.
Use of electronic devices during class time for purposes other than those pre-approved by the teacher, may result in the device being confiscated and held by administration. Students are not allowed to send texts or make calls from their personal devices during the school day without receiving permission from a staff member. Students are not allowed to take photos or videos at school without receiving permission from a staff member.
Appropriate Use / Locations
Before the 5 minute bell in the Commons (use of headphones is allowed)
During class when and where the teacher designates use for learning
Photos & videos with staff & student permission
After school
During Honor Time
Inappropriate Use / Locations
During Emergency drills
PE locker rooms and restrooms
During class without teacher permission
Hallway, office, gym, library and nurse areas
Photos & videos WITHOUT staff and student permission
Wearing headphones in hallways
Bring electronic devices at your own risk. Students are encouraged to lock their devices in lockers during the school day. If a student decides to carry an electronic device on their person, it must be stored out of sight and set to silent mode so that it does not become a distraction to learning.
If the cell phone or personal electronic device is found to be in use during the day without permission, it may be confiscated. On the first offense, the student may pick up the device from the office at the end of the day. On the second offense, the student may also be assigned a lunch detention. On the third or subsequent violations, the student may be assigned other appropriate disciplinary action.
