Cedar Grove Friday Flash
June 3, 2022
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Earlier this afternoon, we welcomed back to Cedar Grove some of our former students who graduated this year from Clarksburg High School and Damascus High School. As the graduates moved through the hallways in caps and gowns, staff and students clapped and cheered them on. Congratulations to all graduating seniors, and we wish them well with their future plans as they embark on their next journey.
Speaking of next journeys, we bid farewell to the following staff members who will not be returning to Cedar Grove next year. We thank these committed and caring individuals for their time and service to our students and their families. We will miss you!
- Jean Berringer, Paraeducator
- Jessica Hunt, Long-term Substitute
- Carolyn Johnson, Reading Initiative
- Rosa Mandich, Administrative Secretary
- Samuel Quiroz Rincon, Classroom Monitor
- Susan Richards, Lunch/Recess Aide
This Monday, we will be practicing our evacuation and reverse evacuation drills. These are required by MCPS each year and they are very similar to fire drills. For these drills, students and staff leave the building and move 300 feet away from the school to two designated areas. Once all students and staff are accounted for, everyone returns to the school.
Mr. Jansson has several hockey sticks (see picture below) that he no longer needs for P.E. instruction and is giving them away to anyone who would like to have one for their child. If anyone is interested in having a gently used hockey stick, please email Mr. Jansson directly at Karl_C_Jansson@mcpsmd.org.
Have a wonderful weekend!

June Media Monthly
We are coming into a wonderful month - June holds so much promise - and that includes very exciting things happening in the media center to prepare our students for their well-earned summer break. Please bookmark the June, July, August Media Monthly, as it will be updated every Friday and often during the summer!
Media Summer Message #1!
Although this is rather incredible, it is time for Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Hirschhorn to prepare the media center for the summer. The first step is to get all of our student library books back into the library. Our end of the year due date this year for media materials checked out to students is June 3. We will be sending home media notices this coming week, so please look for that and help your child find and return their books. Thank you for your support in this endeavor!
