Ocala Civic Theatre Scholarship Deadline Extension
Given the current COVID-19 situation, the Ocala Civic Theatre Board of Directors has decided to extend the scholarship application process. Please take note of the new dates:
Application materials available online: April 29, 2020
Application submission deadline: Friday, May 15, 2020 by 5:30 pm
Tentative audition date: Saturday, June 6, 2020 (tentative)
Ocala Civic Theatre is proud to support the future of the performing arts through its scholarship program. Since the program was established by the OCT Board of Directors, $154,550 has been awarded to Marion County students. Encouraging young talent to pursue their dreams in the performing arts is a part of Ocala Civic Theatre’s mission.
In addition to producing shows that allow students to perform and hone their technical skills, the Theatre offers scholarships to Marion County residents who are planning to major in the performing arts at college. The applicant must be a high school senior or college student pursuing a major in one of the following fields and attending college full-time: Theatre Arts (including Theatre, Playwriting, Directing, or Design and Technical Production), Music (Vocal), Music (Instrumental), and Dance.
This is a competitive process that asks applicants to fill out an application, write an essay, offer current letters of recommendation, attend an interview and present their talent in an audition. The award amount varies each year, but it is a minimum of $500.00 per student. If the scholarship is awarded, it will be paid directly to the college the applicant is attending by or around June 30, 2020.
As Ocala Civic Theatre is currently closed, please either mail your application and materials to:
