S.M.A.R.T Goals are: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound
Specific:
A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general goal. To set a specific goal, you can answer these five "W" questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Example: A general goal would be, "Get in shape", while a specific goal would be, "Join a health club and exercise three days this week".
Measurable:
Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress towards each goal you set. To determine whether your goal is measurable, ask questions such as "How will I know when it is accomplished.
Attainable:
To be attainable, a goal must be one that you are both willing and able to work toward. While it might feel nice to "set a high bar" for yourself in your goal, probably more important is to develop a goal that you have the resources, tools, and ability to accomplish.
Relevant:
"Why do I want to accomplish this goal"? This is a critical question, and if you're really not sure of the answer, you might reconsider the goal.
Time bound:
A goal should be grounded within a time frame. With no time frame tied to it, there is no sense of when you want your goal to be accomplished.
