Third Grade Tidings
Week of October 21-25
A Note From Your Third Grade Teachers
Well, it was certainly a hot week all around in many ways. On Tuesday, we got a preview into the second science curriculum we will be piloting. We're very excited to share with our scientists the videos and hands-on knowledge they will be gaining in this curriculum!
Just a reminder that all days next week will be minimum days for parent conferences and Friday will be a NO SCHOOL day as well.
Your 3rd Grade Teachers,

Global Read Aloud - Stella Diaz Has Something to Say
Stella Diaz Has Something to Say continues to be our Global Read Aloud and things are starting to look up for Stella, albeit not a whole lot. While she continues to worry that she stutters when she's speaking, Stella is beginning to take some risks and it's paying off. Not only is she becoming more confident in class, but her classmates are also starting to see it as well. Our readers are showing a lot of empathy for Stella and what she has endured so far in the story.
The best part is that Stella is being creative and becoming a better writer (just like we are) and her class is learning to become expert writers on the topic of animals. Our authors don't know it yet, but they will soon become their own expert writers on an animal of their choice. Sometimes the stars align, and our writing focus just happens to also be a big part of our read-aloud book!
Math
Our focus next week will be to apply that knowledge to subtraction strategies.
