Summer Fun Options

Mrs. Marcum's class

I hope your family has an awesome summer break!! I wanted to share a few free and/or low cost entertainment options my family has taken advantage of the last few years to make the most of our time together:)

Free Bowling!!

Kids can bowl 2 games free EVERYDAY with this program! You just pay for the shoe rental. You have to sign your kids up with the program and they e-mail your coupons to you each week. My family has participated for several years, and we love it. There is even an option to pay $28.95 one time and up to 4 adults (or siblings over the age of 15) can have 2 games free everyday as well.

Library Fun

There are two options for 5th graders at the library. They can participate in the Teen programs (with age range 6th graders) or they can still participate in the kids programs (with age range 5th graders). Below are the links to the libraries pages of events. The kids link are for Republic, and the Teen link is for all of Greene County so pay attention to the location of each event. The Teen program has some really cool things like: Creating your own Vine, drawing skills, soft circuits (electronic bracelets)!!

For Younger Kids

Zoo Classes

There are zoo classes offered for younger children throughout the summer. They also offer a week long opportunity for 4th -6th grade students called "Zookeepers in Training". It is pricey though. If you are a "Friends of the Zoo" member it is $250 for the week, and if you are not it is $300. The programs for the younger kids are MUCH cheaper and are a great way to expose them to science, animals, and inquiry.
