The announcements

George W. Bush- Delibrate Terrorist Attacks

FDR- Suddenly and deliberately attacked.

Both compare the attacks as attacks of deliberate extremism, however Bush was attacked by a small religion-oriented group and Roosevelt was attacked by an empire.

How the enemy was labeled

George W. Bush- Terrorists (not yet known as Al Queda)

FDR- The Empire of Japan

Both countries were labeled as enemies of state, however Bush didn't know the name of the attackers, meanwhile Roosevelt knew exactly who attacked us.

America Standing Tall

George W. Bush- America has stood down many enemies before, and we will do so this time.

FDR- The American Nation will win through to absolute victory.

Both speeches announces that the American Spirit is strong enough to break down any barriers and come out on top.

The ending


FDR- ...inevitable triumph, so help us god.

George W. Bush- None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom in all that is good and just in our world, good night, and god bless America.

Both speeches addressed God at the end of their speeches, as if calling out for him.
