Raider Update
January 28, 2024
Message from the Superintendent
Greetings Raider Families and Staff,
This week’s Raider Update serves as a celebration of a variety of highlights in our district. To name a few:
Paraprofessional Week - Thank you to our paraprofessionals!!! This past week served as paraprofessional week in Minnesota. In Hastings Public Schools our paraprofessionals positively impact our students and truly make a difference in the lives of the children they serve. We’re lucky to have such dedicated and committed paraprofessionals.
Rotary Students of the Month: At the board meeting this past week, four Rotary Students of the Month were recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments.
Congratulations:
Ashtyn Stewart
Mikayla Schuster
Jolie Pettit
Larry Williams
MN State Music Convention: The Hastings High School Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association MidWinter Clinic. This is the highest honor a Minnesota high school music ensemble can receive, and the group is extremely honored to have been selected for this prestigious event. Our musicians will be performing at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Thursday, February 15th. Congratulations!
Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year: Congratulations Kyle Kreuser! The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Kyle is being honored as the 2023 Educator of the Year. We’re grateful to have Kyle on our Raider team!
In closure, thank you for your support of Hastings Public Schools. As always, please contact me with any questions or feedback.

ISD 200 Staff Spotlight
Taylor Archambault - Elementary Float Sub
Like most other public and private businesses and industries, the labor shortage has caused quite a staffing shortage at ISD200. One particular position that has taken a significant hit is with substitute teaching staff. When a substitute teacher is not available to cover an absence, it causes quite a disruption where fellow teachers take on additional students in their class or give up their prep hours to cover classrooms. At times, administrative staff need to leave their roles to help cover classrooms. It’s not the ideal situation, but creatively covering classes in a time of need is the priority!
When Hastings native Taylor Archambault stepped up this year and applied as a float substitute in our elementary schools, the district was elated! “I was lucky enough to go to school in Hastings growing up and knew there was nowhere better to be,” explains Taylor.
Even though this is only her first year, she really enjoys working with so many students. “I know I am not with the same kids every day, but I want the students to know that when they see me, I am always there for them if they need me,” she says.
Ms. Archambault says that besides her parents and fiance, Brenden, the students she teaches help inspire her. I’m sure she reciprocates that inspiration right back in her classroom of kids.
It’s incredible that ISD200 employees like Taylor help our schools run smoothly, our classrooms stay staffed, and help our kids succeed. Thank you, Ms. Archambault.
