Tuesday Elections for Indian Education Parent Committees
An essential part of the TPS Indian Education program is parent involvement. Annual elections for Title VI and JOM parent committees will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2020. The Title VI Indian Education parent committee meeting begins at 6 p.m. with the JOM Indian Education parent committee meeting immediately following.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Title VI and JOM Indian Education parent committee meetings will be conducted using videoconference pursuant to Title 25, Section 307.1 of the Oklahoma Statutes, as amended by Senate Bill 661. There is no physical site or location for this meeting. Each member of the parent committee will be appearing for the meeting remotely by using videoconference. Participants entering the Zoom call with the link will need to ensure their full name appears when they login to the waiting room in order to be admitted.

Currently, parent committees meet monthly (no meetings in June or July) to help plan and implement programs to meet the unique educational and cultural needs of our American Indian students.
Similar eligibility requirements for the two committees state that those eligible to serve must be parents or guardians of Indian children enrolled in Tulsa Public Schools, except that family members of program staff, school board members, those persons who have a prior felony conviction, and/or registered sex offenders and/or violent crime offenders are not eligible to serve. Complete membership details can be accessed in the links below or viewed on the Indian Education page at tulsaschools.org.
