A Message from the President ~ Donna Watts

A New Year for NYSCAME!

Since beginning my term as president of NYSCAME on January 1st, the Executive Board has met twice to address a number of needs within our organization. We have accomplished a lot and are paving a path for the way forward. We will need your input, your effort, and your communication skills to ensure that NYSCAME has a voice for the future.

As your new president, allow me to tell you a little about myself. I have been active in education for 26 years. I served for fourteen years as a music educator teaching general music and chorus at the middle level. In my capacity as an administrator for the past twelve years, I have filled several roles - assistant principal, principal, and director of several content areas including technology integration, science, music, and visual arts. In my current role, music and the arts are at the core of my passion and my leadership. I am thrilled to serve on the leadership team of the NYSCAME organization! I look forward to the work we have before us and to meeting the NYSCAME members across the state. Please read on for more information.

Please join us for the next NYSCAME General Membership meeting on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 1:30pm in Room 7 in the Egg at the Capital. This meeting will be facilitated by John Gallagher, President-Elect of NYSCAME. The draft minutes from the December General Membership meeting are linked below, as is the agenda for this meeting.

NYSCAME Affiliations

In addition to working with COMTEP and COMEA, NYSCAME is affiliated and works closely with NYSSMA and NYSCEA. We know there is strength in numbers and look forward to our continuing partnerships!

Call for Sessions ~ NYSSMA Winter Conference 2020

NYSSMA is looking for session presenters at the 2020 Winter Conference. The NYSCAME membership has a lot to offer in its ranks and I encourage each of us to consider the unique topics, challenges, and opportunities that would inspire and educate program leaders! If you, or another NYSCAME member you know, are interested in proposing a session for the winter conference, please use the NYSSMA channels to do so: Winter Conference 2020 Session Proposal Form. Please also let me know of any NYSCAME session proposals, so I may keep an eye out for those specific session applications during the selection process. I encourage all NYSCAME members to consider sharing their expertise at the conferences!

Reach out any time!
