Happy Chinese New Year to you all! It is such a blessing to have the Chinese Immersion program at Heritage where we can learn more about another country’s people, language, and culture. Whether your child is in the program or not, we can all enjoy the performances linked below. Please take a look.
We wish you all a safe and fun Presidents’ Day weekend and will see students at school again on Wednesday, February 17th.

WHY IS TEACHING KINDNESS TO OUR CHILDREN IMPORTANT?
1) Feelings of joy, increased self-worth, optimism come from performing acts of kindness. It increases endorphin levels in our body.
2) As minds and bodies grow, it’s abundantly clear that children require a healthy dose of the warm-and-fuzzies to thrive as healthy, happy, well-rounded individuals.
3) Kindness is a key ingredient that enhances positivity and helps children feel good about themselves as it increases serotonin levels.
4) When children are part of activities that help others less fortunate than themselves, it provides them with a real sense of perspective, and fosters empathy. (They will have the chance to do this during our food drive.)
5) Dr. Wayne Dyer explains that an act of kindness improves our mood and boots happiness. (from Edutopia 2015)
